Pixar's new film Hoppers is pure furrry fandom pandering. And they aren't even denying it.

What's the old canard? Never underestimate the data transfer rate of a station wagon loaded full with magnet tape driving from A to B?

Hey, he didn't give away Ukraine, and most consider that in and of itself to be a win.

Sometimes the truth behind the headlines takes a bit of digging:

National Guard is being send in to "quell protests"? It's like zero lessons have been learned from the Kent State Massacre.

Turns out the Qatari airplane they're gifting to Trump is a jet they've been trying to sell for over 5 years and it comes with such high maintenance and operation costs that it's basically a white elephant gift. They're using Trump's ego as a garbage disposal unit.

Is @npub1gpl…cw7k seriously going to post 700 gifs into my timeline, basically flooding it and dominating it, with no rhyme or reason to what he's posting? This feels really intrusive and even maybe even offensive on some level.

You can do this on a granular level with individual users you follow, too. So if someone you know boosts too much, you can turn that off for just the one person. It's a great thing because I enjoy interacting with what some people post, but maybe they boost 10 times an hour and only post 3 or 4 things a day that are original to their brain.
Mastodon truly has the best user-side controls.

I have an anxiety disorder, and it's completely ruined my life. I've been out of work for years, many days I'm barely able to function, and I can't find a good treatment. I'd love to chat with others who have something similar going on so we can compare notes and maybe help each other work toward wellness. I'm exhausted from trying to deal with this and am beginning to consider some kind of inpatient course [$$$] to try to solve this. I need to get back to work and back to being social. I need my life back.

I have no idea if my Medicaid is still going to mean anything in a week. I hope all my healthcare isn't just cut off. I'm trying to get well and get back to work.

My favorite part of Les Miserables is when Vanjean jumps over a wall into the yard of a convent, and then the books spends 150-200 pages giving you the entire history of this convent from founding until the moment Valjean jumps into the yard. That's a thorough backstory!

Are you reading the full-length gigantic version or the truncated version? I found the full-length version to be entirely amazing.

I haven't seen the film Emilia Perez, and I can't really speak with any amount of authrority or anything involving trans issues aside from the gigantic bucket of "queer" life. But... Here is the really great Jessie Gender who has been exploring trans issues on YouTube for years spending 2h20m on Emilia Perez and getting into issues I could never even imagine. It's a great examination of possibly the most controversial film ever nominated for more Oscars than any other this year.

I want to thank the entire mutual aid community for helping my friend @npub16ww…3mwa while his life was down and in crisis. He seems to have gotten a job and is on his way to full recovery of his financial life. And it's amazing that the Fediverse stepped up to help during his really bad time. Thank you all for helping him out!

Honestly, I hadn't thought I'd watch my country be destroyed before I turned 60, but apparently that's what is going to happen.

Your irregular reminder that if you see a "job wanted" or "job opening" posting on Mastodon, you boost it. Always. Doesn't matter what it is. Boosting is the only way things get seen here on Mastodon, so you help you every chance you get. Boost those job postings, always.

My country is going to descend greatly over the next week and nobody knows how far or to what extent. And the anxiety for this queer lad is nearly crippling.

I'm glad you've found a place to transition to that you feel good about, but maybe you don't know that you can turn in any Apple product to Apple and they have a gigantic recycling program so it's not as much e-waste as you might imagine.

2024-11-10 16:53:17 UTC

I have a lot of things in my rubric for how I boost posts, but I have one paramount rule:
Boost any and all "looking for work" and "job available" posts. Always.

Watching the Pod Save America guys sit and trying to analyze the election results and never once come up with racism and misogyny as a reason for Harris losing is infuriating.

I've been unemployed and living off my husbear's retirement savings for a couple of years now, but this is horrifying. I don't know how to help you, truly, given my own state of poverty.
I can boost this post and try to research how to use crowdfunding websites for money. Or maybe you can set up a Ko-Fi? There are ways to get people to send you money easily. I just don't know about any of them in detail.
Please, Universe, send this internet friend of mine some help. This is truly distressing!

This interview with Zachary Quinto about his role playing Oliver Sachs is one of the most beautiful celebrations of humanity, both individual and in general, that I have ever seen. 15m

That's an interesting take on something that is very very public but that you've reacted to in a very personal, individual way.
The way the www works doesn't work well for this kind of interaction but it's very interesting to see how that interaction works out. Not useful for most internet users but certainly great for your relationship.

I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve with this post but the screen capture isn't large enough for me to understand the joke, if there's even a joke for me to understand.
I do try to participate in your humor but this one is a failure for me.

Went to an appointment today to get mental drugs represcribed. Was accused by the prescribing agent of being on drugs and being accusatory toward them when i asked why a prescribed drug is unavailable. The entire visit went badly because of one piece of information that the prescribing agent hadn't received, which is that a drug they prescribed isn't available due to a manufacturer supply chain issue.
Somehow this turned into me being belligerent and so now I am not seeing this prescriber anymore because they think I'm a fucking addict for having more information about a drug than they have.
This is ridiculous and I hate the US health care system.
