don't forget the broken US news Media, which in large parts has given up on journalism and turned into propaganda

your boys might prefer Porco Rosso though. Cool planes, fighter pilots, air pirates, it's marvelous!

Particularly Kiki is an absolutely underrated gem, a fantastic coming of age story with wonderful female role models. And mostly based on swedish cities and landscapes

how has that typically been in the UK in the "old days" when there were basically only Labour and the Tories? Were there factions within that represented different approaches and priorities? And was that something voters were aware of?

yes indeed. Particularly in the multi party systems of continental Europe "liberal" means something very different from the US and to a degree also the UK I think. In many countries (and also in the Weimar republic) there were even several liberal parties. Typically one that was socially conservative but economically progressive and another one that was overall progressive

the creation of social insurances by Bismarck has little to do with liberalism. It was the huge electoral successes of the social democrats due to terrible working and living conditions of the new workers class that forced the government to do something to make their lives better. If I'm remembering well, liberals were actually critical of the welfare state, just like their successors in the FDP

not being a developer myself I see one big issue for working part time from home as a mother: you have to work in a team. What you do needs to be coordinated with your team members, your code needs to be reviewed, there are handovers etc. And the team wants to get stuff done. That's very different from eg. a controlling job where you are handed the weekly spreadsheet for cost checking and you can work all on your own whenever you want as long as it's done by Friday

the other day I saw on TV how a guy was eating a rat burger in LA! Can you believe it? And then he went on and froze Wesley Snipes to death. SAD!
