Maybe #AI will not kill #foss after all
Case in point: #logseq my beloved note-taking outliner shot itself in the foot by splitting its codebase and for all intents and purposes dropping its Markdown file-based backend for a SQLite database. Its development was already stagnant and this amounted effectively to a coup de grâce if you ask me.
#logseq is written in the beautiful programming language #clojure one so niche that contributing to the project must be like joining a software engineering circlejerk just for software engineering’s sake. UI, UX, roadmap, performance, et al. be damned.
And still #logseq concepts were sound, many users myself included validated it with our own data.
That’s why I for one welcome #tine a lightning-fast, multi-platform, compatible #loseq re-implementation written in butt-ugly #rust with the help of #claude #AI
And maybe, just maybe, this is how #foss projects get killed and reborn by #AI

`breezmobile` and `misty-breeze` (both LN wallets) removed from the @nprofile…uck0 repos. Maybe #AI *is* killing #foss and some projects are just rage-quitting preemptively before the agentic exploitcalypse?
Boy if we go back to #security by obscurity we've really come full-circle.

Now that we agree that the road to being a #sovereign digital individual is long and that you must walk it nonetheless for your #privacy sake, let's start with simple, actionable baby steps.
First you must understand that whenever possible you should default to using Free and Open Source Software #foss apps. There are a lot of reasons for that, but for now just know that said kind of apps are very respectful of your personal #data which you are on a mission to reclaim.
We will focus on the #android ecosystem, since for it's very nature is a lot easier to #degoogle and #hack for our purposes. #apple #iphone users should ponder if their convenience trumps their right to digital #freedom or not.
On my next note I'll be posting a list of the day-to-day #alternative #foss apps that I switched to after setting myself onto this journey 3 years ago. Remember: focus will be reclaiming your #data and #privacy NOT #convenience so trade-offs will be a-plenty.
Stay tuned!

2023-08-04 03:20:51 UTC

Hey! That's a nice #smartphone you got there! Do you know what's the most valuable part of it?
If your answer was anything other than "my information" you have a #privacy problem and #apple or #google and a miriad of apps are sucking it off your #mobile for their own #ai purposes and you're paying for it in degrading performance, excessive bandwidth consumption and an ever shortening device lifetime and functionality.
You need to regain control of your #information #privacy and #freedom or at least demand that #bigtech pay a fair value for it. But since the latter is not happening, you must decide to act now or risk be forever a slave.
The road to digital #freedom is long and you pay for it in convenience. Have an unlockable flagship #android phone? Time to trade it for a rootable mid-ranger. Have a shiny #iphone just like all your friends? There's no #apple outside the #matrix
So, are you ready to become a #sovereign #digital #individual for good or will you continue to feed the #machine ?¿

I'm a #logseq user just using #obsidian to edit my .md files but I agree some plugin for interoperability with #nostr would be a great addition to both of them.

I guess that explains a lot of the current #US conundrum given at least 57.4% of it's population are #iphone users.

#plebstr mobile app has better fonts overall that any other #android client in my experience. Too bad it's not on #fdroid

I said it before, #nostr has the potential to be a better #reddit ie. the new #plasma mobile #nostr client has a "Communities" tab that pretty much turns a hastag into a "sub".

I wanted to get into #lemmy I really tried before the #reddit apocalypse, but now I think #nostr pretty much killed of any momentum it had along with #mastodon
#nostr has the potential of being a better #lemmy and a better #mastodon and so much more.

I was never on #twitter never on #facebook and pretty much abandoned #reddit and alternatives already to go full #nostr

En un universo distinto #venezuela sería la #singapur de América Latina por su ubicación y recursos. Mi país #argentina sería como la #india con su capacidad industrial.

Nice article. But I'd argue you don't have to go full digital Mennonite to reclaim your privacy and a sense of freedom. I started de-googling my life during the pandemic and when it was over all my smartphones were rooted and running #lineageos and for the most part only apps from #fdroid
Nowadays its much easier with projects like #grapheneos and others if you choose your devices wisely.

I'd go for countries with the largest #btc adoption first. I'm in #latam and I'd argue real day to day usage is greater here than in #europe.

Note that most if not all of the #ECOWAS (green) African countries use the French #CFA franc as currency. This will be another fiat war because it'll be cheap for France. #bitcoin fixes this.
