@nprofile…uk5j As someone who has found it increasingly hard to get a job precisely because of AI, that part is at least very much NOT nebulous to me.
But what I meant by specifics is like.. For a specific picture, do those downsides apply? Was the model used trained using a bunch of stolen art non-consensually in bulk? Was it generated by a service building huge data centers that destroy the environment?
SOMEtimes, the answer to both is 'no'. It's increasingly rare, but I've met people who (c)

@nprofile…uk5j I have a hard time separating the two, and that's why I have a hard time answering the polls =x.x=
To me, the specifics are the only things that matter, and there's nothing incorporeal or nebulous involved.
Though the use of 'disappointed' IS quite accurate.. I don't outright hate AI users, I just get disappointed they didn't pay an artist instead of spending money on AI generation.

@nprofile…r365 @nprofile…praa @nprofile…e4h0 I mean, they gave the exact ffmpeg command they used.. Though admittedly, you'd want to tailor it to the content you're compressing. I'd recommended '-tune:v animation' because there are optimizations x264's encoder can make when there are large parts of the screen that move together smoothly or there's only some things moving (like simple animations), but those optimizations will just make other types of video compress even worse than default settings.

@nprofile…e4h0 The artifacting can be reduced by lowering the crf value. Somewhere after 'input_file.mp4' and before 'output_file.mp4', add something like '-crf 20'. The lower the crf, the higher the quality. At a crf of 0, it's technically supposed to be lossless (but there is some loss in color information due to YUV↔RGB conversion not being perfect, and because of chroma subsampling). Do note that the file size will be HUGE if you do '-crf 0'. Default is I think 23.

Though, most video players don't do all the correct conversions.. Only one I know of is mpv, though it requires some command line options. Might do it automatically for an actual DVD though? Unsure.
The main trouble is that it'll want to decode as using BT.1886 gamma, which changes depending on your display's contrast ratio.. And if you don't have a display color profile installed with actual white/black (c)

2026-06-29 09:03:04 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…sxjz Well, DVDs mostly use SMPTE 170M, but VHS is something that it depends on when the equipment was made. Wikipedia says that 170M was published in 1994, and that was when they started changing equipment to natively use the 'SMPTE C' colorimetry.
Before that the recommendation was to store and broadcast in the original BT.470M colorimetry, and have TVs use a converter circuit.
But that's just the US. In Japan they never changed from the original NTSC (BT.470).

@nprofile…sxjz @nprofile…e64v I am fascinated by these! Out of curiosity, do you happen to know what color standard is used when you decode on your VHS player? I know NTSC is kinda split between a bunch of different ones, like SMPTE 170M and BT.470.

@nprofile…sxjz @nprofile…e4h0 I remember trying to encode H.265 video in the past. I am NOT trying that ever again without hardware encoding support, which I still don't have, and I assume most people don't have.
I'm talking like... Over a day to encode one second. Awful.

2026-06-29 08:40:18 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…e4h0 @nprofile…sxjz Blah, I forgot a bit of it and it was actually the bit that mattered, the '-preset veryslow' bit. That's what tells it to take longer to try to squeeze things even smaller.
Also, the '-tune:v animation' should help, because it will tell it that you have animated graphics that tend to have single shapes moving together in solid-ish colors. Less noisy/grainy patterns. It can optimize for that.

2026-06-29 08:36:01 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…e4h0 @nprofile…sxjz If you don't mind ffmpeg taking forever to re-encode, you can also try to up the tune. Also, for free gains (in case you're not already), make sure you're using the 'high' profile. Usually I use something like this (note: I don't know if you want to further compress audio or not, so I'll just have it copy for this example):
ffmpeg -i input_file.mp4 -movflags faststart -c:v libx264 -c:a copy -profile:v high -tune:v animation output_file.mp4

- reply

@nprofile…e4h0 @nprofile…sxjz Try higher -crf values in ffmpeg to get a smaller size. I think the default is 23? I usually use 18, but I imagine that'd result in huge file sizes for longer videos (I mostly encode short gifs that are only a few seconds long, so I splurge and use -qp 18). Assuming you're using H.264, of course.. Otherwise, there are other flags I'm less familiar with. Kinda have to look up codec-specific stuff.

@nprofile…j3d5 However, it's VERY easy to get the timing wrong on it. If I end the stimulation TOO late, it works.. But I just feel done. Not satisfied, but I have the standard refractory period, and I can't chain them together. I think this is what Most people experience with a ruined orgasm, especially since they call it 'ruined'. I've seen some people online talk about using it as a form of punishment for their submissives; like if they promised to let them cum, but they had disobeyed or something.

@nprofile…j3d5 I don't know if women can experience it; I have heard people claim they can, and I've also heard people claim they can't. I don't know if anyone making any of the claims actually has a pussy.
But I do know it's a real thing, because I do it to myself on purpose because of the extreme sensitivity increase. I can typically manage to chain together 2 or 3 before it becomes too much and I can't stop myself from just fully climaxing... But I'm sure if I weren't in control I could do more.

And you can chain them together one after the other very quickly, if done right, and it builds sensitivity up more and more each time :3

@nprofile…j3d5 I only have one Twitter account, so I'm literally 'horny on main' on there.

@nprofile…j3d5 Regarding the stuff about looking selfish or stupid for posting self-indulgent horny posts... I actually get that, and ironically, I hold back a LOT on here. Even more than I do on Twitter, weirdly enough, but I also hold back on there.
I'm getting better about it, but some of my fantasies are.. A bit on the extreme side, and I worry that people will judge me too extremely if I start hornyposting about them as often as I have them.
On Twitter, I've run into a few people with sorta (c)

@nprofile…j3d5 Regarding first person view, I think there's a rule on here where you have to clearly mark anything that's a "roleplay" post as being fiction.
So like, if you were to post something like, "I can't believe how tight Cream's cunny is, I can barely fit a finger in there! Must be because she's so young!", I think you're supposed to tag it as an rp post or something like that to make it clear that you didn't literally stick a finger into a real life girl named Cream.

@nprofile…j3d5 @nprofile…85se I dunno, if they jerked off to it I would think they'd be more likely to try to hide it, not show it on the big screen in thousands of theaters.
It was most likely that they just thought the idea was funny, but I like to imagine they saw the direction censorship laws were gonna take, and wanted to defy them while they still could, maybe also give some precedence against them.

It makes me want to hug their lawyers and the writer behind that scene's inclusion.

@nprofile…j3d5 Sorry, I wasn't very clear with what I meant. I had said 'extrapolating into things they have no real idea about whatsoever' because I think their line of reasoning was something like:
- "Oh they were abused."
- "Hm, I know abuse is generational sometimes."
- "I'm reasonably sure most people know this too, including their family."
- "Their family must be afraid it'll become generational abuse!"
Like ChatGPT or Gemini token predicting REALLY badly and hallucinating bullshit.

@nprofile…j3d5 @nprofile…r9jn That sort of line of thinking is SO fucked up, and it's made worse by the statistics that do show that abuse can be generational.
But it's NOT something in someone's genetics. Generational abuse also occurs when a kid is abused by people they aren't related to, and not all kids abused by a parent become abusive.
This classmate sounds like they have a tiny bit of knowledge about generational abuse being a thing, and are wrongly extrapolating into things they have no (c)

@nprofile…j3d5 Innocent-looking loli sister who teases her shota brother in ways that would look innocent to a casual observer, and the bratty shota tries to assert dominance against his sister only to find she's VERY dominant and kinky, making him try to back down while she corners him.
Probably with a knotted strapon (perhaps inflatable knot, so that he doesn't realize until it's too late and he can't escape with it stuck in him) and a set of girly clothes for him to wear.

@nprofile…gcjp @nprofile…j7ge It's a surprisingly deep question, to be honest! My initial instinct would be to say, "Portray them however you want to," and I still think that's 100% valid, but now that I'm finding evidence that there might be a canonical/official answer to the question? I'm a lot less sure of my 'there is no ethnicity in those games' assumption.
And without that assumption, my initial instinctual 'do whatever' answer sounds more like a cop-out than an answer.
Maybe that's just me.

@nprofile…j7ge @nprofile…gcjp Honestly, that's probably true. At the very least, ethnicity/race ARE used to discriminate, and that's a bad thing.
However, I don't think they HAVE to be used like that. For example, we classify other animals into various groups based on appearance too, not just humans. Like, tuxedo cats vs. tabby cats. Those are basically different races too, and we don't usually use them to discriminate between against cats of a certain fur pattern.

@nprofile…gcjp Just going by the sprites I found on the Wiki, Kris and Frisk seem to be the same ethnicity, with hair and skin that are a bit darker than Chara's.
Chara's eyes are vertical, while Frisk's are horizontal, so I think Frisk is likely Asian of some sort. Given the similar hair and skin color, I assume Kris is also Asian. That leaves Chara as Caucasian, given her lighter skin and vertical eyes.

@nprofile…gcjp I can really see the differences and progression between them, but I'm gonna be honest: both the old and the new styles look good to me.
They are distinct, and I assume that the new faces match your vision for what your intent is.. And that means that they are objectively better. But just going by appearances, I honestly like both.

Bitterness does tend to correlate with poison though, and you're 1000% right that we are masochistic little weirdos who poison ourselves for fun.

@nprofile…j3d5 "You're not supposed to enjoy food involving pain or discomfort, it means there's something wrong with you in your head."
Pain = spiciness, discomfort = bitterness.
The darker the chocolate, the more bitter the flavor. The hotter the pepper, the more painful it is to eat it.
Sometimes, people just enjoy hurting themselves and being uncomfortable. Personally, I hate spicy food but love very dark chocolate.
