I didn't want to deal with finding a barber to get a haircut so I let my fiance book me one at hers. The "hair stylist" absolutely FUCKED my beard to DEATH and I've been here for almost FOUR HOURS waiting for my fiance to get her hair done.
I made a terrible mistake and I am pretending everything is fine to avoid embarassing her, but it's not fine friends. Don't do what I did.
Take your hair sovereignty seriously.

Fun fact, Sarah Silverman did a skit where she walked around new york in black face in her 2007 TV show (Season two). The show is mostly cringe, with a few good bits, but this episode has largely been scrubbed from the internet. She has since claimed it was. "The worst mistake of her career."

After years of experimentation this is the toothbrush and toothpaste combo I have stayed with. The sonicare brush is incredibly annoying at first, but I got used to it after a day or two. It doesn't have moving mechanical parts, so there's less opportunity for a mold trap in the brush. Then I found these bamboo and boar's hair brush heads to avoid plastic.

At first I thought they would be crap or wouldn't last, but I've been using it for a couple months now and I like it. The toothpaste is basically baking soda in powdered form with some mint, so no bullshit ingredients.

Honestly I always ignored it for being too bearish until it called the recent bottom. Admittedly it was much closer to reality than my estimates were a year or two ago.
I may need to read into the theory behind it. If it's based on network effect, measuring that in fiat over the longrun is unlikely to provide a good baseline

You are probably correct to suspect Grant. I know someone who is deeply familiar with the topics he often talks about and says the guy is full of crap.
Regarding wisdom which is in-born, rather than developed, Plato had a term for that. It's called anamnesis. The Meno is generally cited as the best dialogue to read in order to study the subject.
In it, Socrates demonstrates that the king's uneducated slave can intuitively grasp complex mathematical concepts through geometry.

2026-10-26 22:01:07 UTC

- reply

Yeah this is very interesting. There are probably many different answers stemming from different philosophical perspectives.
If I could offer one answer it would be that our nervous systems (and bodies in general) are highly sensitive to vibrational patterns. Music bypasses the rational mind and directly interacts with us on a vibrational level. There have been some interesting (though somewhat difficult to believe) experiments showing that different types of music create different physical outcomes on the growth of plants.
It may also be the case for people and animals, but I am doubtful anyone is funding research on this at the moment.

Yes, and it's not that difficult to dox some of us, but those who don't choose a picture of themselves as their profile do have the opportunity to remain pseudonymous if they wish 😁

2026-10-24 12:17:38 UTC

Initially I though nostr might become a catch all for the content that can't be posted elsewhere.
A few years ago the amount of censorship online was reaching a high point and that may happen again, but I've been relieved to see that all the centralized platforms have pretty much let the flood gates down.
My more paranoid side is wondering if zero censorship in conjunction with ID verification is just a honey pot, but I don't use those services so I don't have to care.
The upside is that it gives nostr more time to develop without controversy. Maybe things are better today than they were a few years back, but imo it would still be incredibly easy to disrupt nostr with spam. Imo that won't be solved until robust WoT systems are in place.
WoT+zaps ftw 🤙

I walked into a casino once in 2022. I went to the roulette wheel, put $20 on black, promptly lost my money, and realized that could have paid for my lunch.
I haven't gambled since, but I did get to walk the floor and see how similar the layout was to modern apps. The lines of boomers pulling slot handles (or just pressing buttons) with a dim blue glow on their faces.
It's unbelievable that it works, but people love it like fish love a lure.
