I walked into a casino once in 2022. I went to the roulette wheel, put $20 on black, promptly lost my money, and realized that could have paid for my lunch.
I haven't gambled since, but I did get to walk the floor and see how similar the layout was to modern apps. The lines of boomers pulling slot handles (or just pressing buttons) with a dim blue glow on their faces.
It's unbelievable that it works, but people love it like fish love a lure.
