You did good. You explained it all really well. I wish you had been given more time to get into it in more depth. It's easy to learn from you. More people need to hear this, and more from you. Keep up the good fight. :hearthands:

Why Washington Residents Aren't Flooding the Streets to Protest Trump (Politico)
https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2025/08/21/donald-trump-washington-dc-police-protests-00516629
Short answer.
Trump is itching for a protest so he's not going to get one. Nothing to see here, move along. Go fight crime in the crime-ridden red states.
A bit longer answer.
The National Guard have jobs and families in their own states. How long are they going to be willing to stand around and watch peaceful fellow citizens going about their business before they themselves start protesting the assignment to participate in a fake crisis?

Disagreeing with the “just a stunt” & “wasted effort” sentiments. Tens of thousands are tuned in on various platforms to support and embolden our representatives to fight—harder, smarter, faster—for us. In return, we are gaining more tools, i.e., knowledge/power/encouragement with which to equip ourselves in our efforts to energize others to become better informed in hopes that they, too, will stand up and meet this moment with courage.

Visited the Turning Point Suffragist Memorial this week-end. It is a beautiful site located in the Occoquan Regional Park, where one can walk a 5K loop around the park with a section that runs along the Occoquan River.

Had to get outside today. Found myself at a park, where I felt compelled to defend an immigrant family’s right to be there.
I must admit, it took me a few minutes to speak up. I was initially reluctant to do so—I am not young. I am not in good health. I am not of large frame. And the young men were not nice.
So, I gathered my thoughts & my courage & then, said what I said. Something disarming & then, something more pointed. I ended up babbling something about the gift of this beautiful sun shiny day & was relieved when they turned & walked away.
The father shared his appreciation for my “kind manner.” Said his wife had wanted to leave but when he heard me, he said to her, “See. See, there are still kind people here.” We continued to talk for a bit and they were so lovely. I am happy to have meet them & their beautiful children. I am happy I found the courage to say *something.*
Still, I cried all the way home.
We have to stand up for each other now.

One never REALLY forgets. about Gaetz. He's always somewhere in our memories, along with our musings of WHEN someone will do something about him, and all those like him, as they continue making a mockery of the values they claim to represent.
As far as the other guy, he's always just a bad day away from his next bad day.

You read that right. He wants to sell lots and develop luxury homes on property that is sliding into the ocean.

Dealing with an allergic reaction to Monday's CT Scan with contrast iodine dye. Not fun. At all. Ended up going to urgent care. Still uncomfortable.
Going for a MRI with contrast tomorrow. Different dye and I have had that before so should be ok. I'll let you know how it goes.

Hi All,
I’m Wren. Like so many others, I’m here because I can no longer stomach what the Chief Super Villain is doing at the other place. I’m grateful to have found Mastodon/Universeodon, and am looking forward to settling in.
