I recall Kiwibank selling off their kiwisaver fund managing. They currently recommend Fisher Funds, but I suspect you can find a more ethical option. I've seen recommendations lately to look for funds with minimal exposure to tech stocks.
I've banked with them for years with no significant issues, and the most memorable hiccup they were super apologetic about. But couldn't fix all of it right away without some paperwork (children's ID) we didn't have with us while travelling. Also required their father to sign too, and he wasn't with us.
App seems fine (haven't tried other banks though) service at branch is good, as it was the one time I needed to bring them to sort a problem

Help!
It looks like I need to replace my phone.
Constraints
-works on Aotearoa phone networks
- need to be able to use some apps that are only available on play store/apple
-I'm quite not tech savvy and have a hard time getting round to things
-budget, lol
Desires:
-doesn't spy on me
-Works without me needing skills I will struggle to learn
From bits I've been hearing here and there I need a "sandbox" to keep that play store away from anything else I do
Graphene OS is the only option for going that
I'm going to need to buy a pixel phone to run it
Questions:
Is that my choice? A (second hand) pixel
Or something Android and try to get better at knocking the AI and spying tendencies on the head
How hard is it for a technophobe to run Graphene OS?

I'm guessing it depends on climate, but everyone just grows from seed here, either autumn sown or in spring.
Presuming you have frost? Getting a long enough growing season could be your challenge. Is that why people use sets? I'm sure they are grown from seeds (almost all onions come from seeds, except tree onions, of course [oh, and bunching onions, wonder how closely they are related])
Starting in flats then planting out once the soil is warmer is good. They are tricky and fiddly to transplant. The roots just don't hang on to the soil. Maybe that's another reason to use sets.

That is beautiful.
Ironically they grow like weeds here.

The kid and I were ogling a 12k (on special!) bike. Cute front basket, belt drive, all sorts of specs I don't understand. The rear rack could take 60kg, I think it's designed for 2 or 3 smaller kids, it would probably be tricky for an adult to get their legs under the padded grab bars. But the kid reckoned it would be fun for giving their flatmate a lift home from the pub.

I was a kid. Seemed like most people thought it was pretty pointless, and certainly people a bit older than me were mocking it for decades after. In out family our father took my mother's car to work on his carless day. So she had no car for 2 days a week (her carless day and his a well) also worth remembering traffic officers were a separate organisation from police. They only enforced road rules and there was a culture of trying to evade them even amongst some who would treat the police with respect

Another low tech idea is noting two landmarks- one close to your path and the other distant that are lined up when you are close to the right place. We used to do this swimming/jumping in the surf where there's a strong longshore drift. If that tree was lined up with a point n the ridge behind we knew we were ok, when they got out of line we knew it was time to move back to our safe patch of surf. It's easier to do this though when you are trying to maintain a position because you get constant reminders of what your landmarks are every time you check.
Edit: you need to choose two landmarks that are close to a line 90 degrees to your expected line of travel. So directly inland from a beach

Seems I'm not as helpful as Summer.
I've drawn arrows in the sand, which are easy to miss unless you spend a while drawing them.
A tech solution would be a mapping app that lets you record your trail and shows your position. Here we have NZtopo50 which can do that.

Summer seems focused on bringing back your items. Would she leave sticks behind that you hadn't attached something of your own to? Or do they immediately become objects to retrieve as soon as you touch them.
I'm thinking a patteran, but made ridiculously obvious.

Lovely Summer.
I'd almost be tempted by the twofer deal, especially because if there's likely to be a need later that's 2 potential exposure events, not one. But I have heard the prep is quite a few days of not fun. Could you look into the various things Covid conscious people do to try and layer protections? The ones I know of include various mouth washes and nasal sprays, plus dosing up on antihistamines. I got lucky with my recent general anaesthetic, and came away without any hospital acquired infections. Crossing fingers that you do too, and that the results are reassuring.

No. I said pretty clearly I don't think this situation is at all like the one I described.
You asked if there was a protocol where minors could receive reproductive healthcare for sexually transmitted infections without their parents knowledge. I described a situation which justifies such a protocol.

I can see situations where there needs to be this provision. If they got the infection from a family member or some other person that the family will protect rather than have a concern for the safety of the child, then it could be very unsafe for the parents to know the kid is getting treated. This doesn't look at all like that situation.

Even in Aotearoa where our healthcare is more affordable than yours (though primary care still has a charge, capped at $20/visit for the very poor), we still have people following those influencers. I've even had a nurse-vaccinator at my clinic tell me that our RSV surge was caused by immunity debt

Yep, it yo-yos back and forth. What's happening in the Northern Hemisphere winter peak strongly influences which strains are put in our southern hemisphere vaccine. The tropics are interesting, with some areas getting seasonal peaks )around the rainy season) and others not. Travel, climate and behaviour all contribute to peaks and which strains dominate. If the predictions don't get the vaccine strains right we get a bad flu season. Though last few years we have had a bad flu season anyway. And an underfunded health system which is undergoing privatisation by stealth.

Is it kind of like the way people who aren't in the top tax bracket vote to cut the rate there because they are convinced sometime soon they will be?
Making summer holidays shorter will only affect those greedy poor people, my job will keep giving me the full 4 weeks annual leave. Oh and if we make teachers teach for the whole year I won't have to worry about finding holiday programmes

absolutely seconding the not a 30 advice, even though mine doesn't yet seem to have major issues. As well as the battery chemistry and architecture issues the Battery Management System contributes to overheating by sucking down the kilowatts a bit fast (makes the charge time metrics look better)
I strongly suspect that as well as getting lucky with my batteries manufacture it's longevity has a lot to do with very gentle treatment, and tbh you probably don't want the hassle. Especially if you eZnt to travel on highways where it's difficult to go slower than the regular flow of traffic.
I have heard of a cooked 40kWhr battery, but it was used as a taxi and utterly trashed with fast charges.bith the 40 and 62 have a different design, so even though the chemistry is the same and they also don't have active thermal.management, they are less vulnerable heating damage. You'll still want to be honest with yourself about how much patience you have and what compromises you are prepared to make before you decide.
Most charging stations still have a Chademo plug, but CCS provision is increasingly coming to dominate fast charging provision

I didn't think it was a New Zealand one - we don't export the ones that are that sad. Colorado is probably too cold, but they are proving to grow wild in parts of this country that were once thought far too cold.

Wild kiwifruit are seen as an invasive pest plant in many parts of Aotearoa/New Zealand. Most control measures focus on stopping birds getting at unharvested or reject fruit, but some of the infestations are a long way from orchards, implying people are involved

It's definitely borer. From what I can tell it's not feasible to treat the larval stage. They are completely under the surface, except for a tiny tiny hole where they hatch and first chew in. Then they have a round exit hole and a pile of frass
You only see them like this where the wood is resurfaced, exposing their tunnels
