I really *need* to find a new way of storing “secrets”, like short secure notes, etc.
`MUST`:
- macOS client
- reasonable GUI
- text and images (eg: TOTP QR-Codes)
- multiple independent containers for mutually exclusive projects
- OFFLINE capable (even for adding new items)
`SHALL`
- OpenSource
- fast
Would `LIKE`:
- Synchronisation via self-hosted backend (WebDAV, separate server)
- iOS Client
`MAY`:
- CLI
- cost €
Personal experience, and suggestions welcome!

@nprofile…fnv8 Sure, but I *know* that the printer‘s power outlet is off. Why not let the print job turn it on for me automatically? It‘s bad enough I have to walk oder to collect the marked pieces of dead trees like in the dark ages …

Today's sidequest: Find a way to run a shell script before printing a file via CUPS on macO. The script basically does a single `curl` to power on the printer’s outlet.
Have you done something similar? Perhaps with a filter? I don’t need to manipulate print at a at all, just run a single curl before the job is sent to the printer.
Links to solving this are welcome! (Yes, I’ve obviously searched around and read documentation already, but nothing seems to work so far.)

@nprofile…zx3a Moi? 😇
RC has just been a forever hobby of mine. So I was curious. I wasn’t even aware of Cupra as a manufacturer until now, but I normally don’t follow 1:1 cars. Certainly cannot recall having seen any common RC-Scale bodies.
If you go for that project, I’m certainly curious. :-)

@nprofile…4x07 @nprofile…a80x Sorry, Bad wording on my side. I did not mean, and world explicitly not recommend using a large vDisk on local storage provider. Not because of the local storage, but because of the vDisk, which is, IMHO, way too risky at n-TB size.
I‘d rather use VirtIOFS which is available since Proxmox 8.4.0. It is filesystem/file backed instead of blockdevice.
No risk of corrupted vDisk. Will benefit from ZFS on Proxmox. (You’re fine putting it on local-zfs.)
Makes more sense now?

@nprofile…4x07 @nprofile…a80x Either what you do, if possible, other networked storage elsewhere, or local mounts in Proxmox 9.x. VDisks in the TB Range are terrible to use, fragile and easy too risky IMHO.
Local mounts in Proxmox are just not matured yet and not well exposed in the GUI. You have to care for backups yourselves, there’s no integration with normal backups or even PBS.

#Whatsmissing is a button in #Steam to allow people to wish that a game would work on #SteamDeck. Shouldn’t matter if it’s in my library (of shame) or my wishlist (of shame).
If it’s a game I’d *like* to play, and it doesn’t support playing on SteamDeck, I’d like a simple and measurable way to let the developers know about that desire.
Same for the upcoming #SteamMachine and #SteamFrame devices.

#USBWTF If you thought USB Type-C cables were a complex topic… You have no idea…
Investigating why USB-version connections differ with multiple full-featured, and tested, USB Type-C↔︎C cables.
Cable A: USB-IF *certified*, passive Thunderbolt 3/4, USB4 Gen 3, 40GiBit/s
- Actual connection: USB 3.2 Gen2 SuperSpeed+, aka USB 10GiBit/s. Yes, renamed *again*.
- R: 1000MiB/s
- W: 700MiB/s
Cable B: not-certified, same specs as A
- Actual connection: USB 4 Gen 3
- R: 5.2GiB/s
- W: 4.8GiB/s

Was ist Dein Geheimnis?

@nprofile…7v9l @nprofile…cwcm @nprofile…twkg @nprofile…8fl0 I‘m open to suggestions or ideas. Haven’t found a sparkling topic though.
Ruled out:
- USB
- Firewire (surpassed by USB, dead technology)
Extremely unlikely: others know a LOT more about this, or have covered this excellently
- Bluetooth
- HTTP/3 (quic)
On hold:
- Emoji follow up (not enough yet)
Unsure if suitable to convey helpful knowledge that can be applied by everyone:
- Unicode
- Text Encoding
- UTF(-8, -16, etc.)
- data compression
- Colour
