I just couldn’t do it, and it’s just wrong. You should try the keeping doors closed method, that’s not at all difficult to do. Or maybe he just wants to be an outdoor cat, which you could also try.

Why not just roll back the feature instead of resorting to a censorship list?

I imagine it’d be difficult, even the mostr bridge doesn’t work very well.

Cash is used for criminal activity but almost all of its activity is legitimate. That’s not so for bitcoin. That advert isn’t targeted at crypto ppl, but ppl concerned about crime carried out using crypto.

2023-09-01 05:08:42 UTC

Ok but it seems like you’re suggesting that the assassination targets of a state are or should be chosen democratically. I’m not even addressing the ethics of droning ppl.

2023-09-01 04:58:09 UTC

- reply

That’s not really the issue, it’s that you seem to think who the state chooses to execute is a democratic process.

2023-09-01 04:55:21 UTC

- reply

That’s not democracy or a public vote, that’s a vigilante chimpout.

2023-09-01 04:18:35 UTC

I guess it’s too bad your opinion is wrong.

2023-09-01 04:07:45 UTC

- reply

That doesn’t solve the issue of censorship on fedi, it makes it worse imo. I think it’s better they stay separate.

2023-09-01 04:03:25 UTC

- reply

I totally agree. I know tech ppl like open source stuff, but tbh a lot of it is trash because there’s no financial incentive to maintain or work on it.

2023-09-01 03:59:55 UTC

- reply

I like it too. I still feel the need to be argumentative but that’s just my nature. 😎

2023-09-01 03:58:20 UTC

- reply

It sort of exists already, you can use the mostr.pub relay to see and interact with fedi.

2023-09-01 03:52:54 UTC

- reply

Much longer than that actually, and fedi is objectively worse.

2023-09-01 03:49:59 UTC

- reply

Yes, I thought about this actually and imo that’s essentially because you aren’t constantly surrounded by corrupt and evil ppl on nostr.

2023-09-01 03:46:42 UTC

- reply

Most ppl stick with what they’re already familiar and comfortable with, especially if it happens to work the best, which is a serious problem with nostr (since clients tend to suck).

2023-09-01 03:43:48 UTC

- reply

I understand the idea, but it doesn’t seem to work out so well in practice. For the average person, whether you can see the code or not is irrelevant.

2023-09-01 03:40:23 UTC

- reply

Just keep making progress, and focus on improving yourself. Whether you’re able to mend things or not, you’ll be in a better position in the end.

That’s not what he said but ok.

2023-09-01 03:31:27 UTC

- reply

Well, remember that nothing lasts forever, and you can start a new chapter in your life. I’m sure it’ll take longer than 4 weeks to move on, but use the time to improve yourself so you’re ready for something new.

2023-09-01 03:16:44 UTC

- reply

Please elaborate.

2023-09-01 03:08:39 UTC

- reply

Nostr has censorship issues too tbf, but it’s not as insane as the fediverse.

2023-09-01 03:05:39 UTC

- reply

There are no relays, they’re instances with users that communicate with one another. Fedi instances constantly block each other over practically anything at all. The whole network is completely divided and many ppl can’t see each other.

2023-09-01 02:54:41 UTC

- reply

That’s true but open source stuff gets hacked all the time. I get why it’s perceived as better, but thinking it’s safer is a mistake.

Are you a professional dev?

2023-09-01 02:50:36 UTC

It doesn’t really matter when tax authorities are knocking on your door, does it?

2023-09-01 02:47:04 UTC

- reply

That may be true for a tiny proportion of ppl, but almost nobody does. Imagine the work required to read it and actually fully understand it, not to mention keeping up with every change.

2023-09-01 02:44:04 UTC

- reply

I don’t think that propensity is ideological, it’s just human.

2023-09-01 02:41:22 UTC

- reply

Do you read all of the code for the clients you use?

2023-09-01 01:25:00 UTC

MATI streams are ok, but not ok enough where I’ll actually watch them anymore.

2023-09-01 01:06:48 UTC

It became all about money eventually, I think that’s what it comes down to.

2023-09-01 00:55:22 UTC

- reply

That’s strange, why do you think that is?

2023-09-01 00:53:57 UTC

- reply

It may be that iris requires nos2x now like primal, but I’m not sure.

2023-09-01 00:16:27 UTC

- reply

Hmm maybe that has something to do with their weird relay situation.

2023-09-01 00:12:51 UTC

- reply

Does it? They don’t work for Damus or Plebstr.

2023-09-01 00:12:13 UTC

- reply

I just find them boring.

2023-09-01 00:02:43 UTC

2023-08-31 23:56:08 UTC

Seems that way. It’s definitely the mostr bridge but Alex probably won’t fix it so I won’t even bother asking.

2023-08-31 23:42:20 UTC

Why don’t I get any notifications for interactions coming over the mostr bridge?

I check global p often for that reason, there’s way too much obsessing over money on nostr.

2023-08-31 23:23:48 UTC

- reply

I like plebstr too. Someone said it isn’t open source tho, if that matters to you.

2023-08-31 21:48:14 UTC

- reply

Stop what?

2023-08-31 06:10:38 UTC

- reply

Well yeah, it’ll be a mix of vapour and solid water. Probably even if it’s 100% pure water with zero impurities. So this goes back to what I said about temperature measurement requiring matter.

2023-08-31 05:57:27 UTC

- reply

Have you ever heard of desublimation?

2023-08-31 05:51:05 UTC

- reply

The fediverse is just a totally different thing. It was basically created to provide a safe space for insular communities like trannies and pedophiles, and leftists. Ppl with similar beliefs can gather on these instances and shut out others that criticise them or say things they don’t like. There are bitcoin and crypto ppl on fedi tho.

2023-08-31 05:45:07 UTC

- reply

I question your integrity for reasons apart from this, but I more or less agree. It’s like.. put a bit of water at a random point in the universe, is it likely to become a solid? The answer is yes.

2023-08-31 05:35:30 UTC

- reply

Yes.

2023-08-31 05:23:26 UTC

- reply

I agree with your point, but I also think you’re trying to walk things back tbh. What I said was really a criticism of what jajax was saying.
