Do you remember #Tumblr's "Scheduled Post" feature? Where you could #queue up a bunch of #posts and it will spread them throughout the day? Well, I wanted the same thing for #Sharkey because the schedule post workflow in Sharkey is ... somewhat *obtuse*.
Well, with the help of my Gemini Pro subscription, Gemini and I 'vibe coded' a #Linux #bash #script to do exactly that! I call it `sched-sharkey.sh`. And yes, it's for Linux (might work for Mac too). If you're on Windows you can use WSL.
**NO WARRANTY. NO GUARANTEES. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. AUTHOR IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES TO YOUR DATA OR MACHINE. I MEAN, THE ONLY "WRITING" THIS SCRIPT DOES IS WRITE OUT ITS LOG FILE. BUT JUST IN CASE... IT'S A SHELL SCRIPT. IT'S COMMENTED. IT'S DOCUMENTED. DO WHAT YOU WANT WITH IT. IT'S RELEASED INTO THE PUBLIC DOMAIN.**
**Pre-requisites:** `bash`, `curl`, `jq`, `date`.
**Setup:**
0. Save the script out. I call it `sched-sharkey.sh` but the script-name is arbitrary, and mark it executable with `chmod +x <script>`.
1. Generate your own #API key from your account from **Settings** -> **Service Integration**, and copy it somewhere. Make sure you have permissions for *notes*, *scheduling*, and *drive* "*files*". I have **Developer Options** enabled on my account, but I'm not sure if that's a requirement.
2. Create a text file called `template.txt` in the same directory as the script which contains the boilerplate text you'd like added to every post.
3. Edit the script:
a. **INSTANCE**: The URL of your instance without a trailing slash. For example: `https://cyberczar.org`
b. **TOKEN:** The API key you generated in Sharkey for your account.
c. **WINDOW_START:** Beginning HOUR to start scheduling, in 24hr format.
d. **WINDOW_END:** End scheduling at this hour, in 24hr format.
e. **MAX_POSTS**: The number of posts to schedule within the schedule window.
**Note:** I haven't tried this but I would **assume** you could put `8.5` for `08:30`. I need to try it though.
**Usage:** `./sched-sharkey.sh <full path to the attachment>`

```bash
Of course if you're comfortable with shell scripting you can, for example, iterate through all the files in a folder and it will automatically schedule posts for those files.
One last thing, the script is smart enough that if you schedule more than say -- 150 -- for my defaults, the script will automatically move-on to the next day automatically.
I saw it this past weekend with some friends. Definitely a very good movie. Although man did they take some artistic license with some things. Not as bad as Gravity though.
Had to make the difficult decision today to close nsfw.social and nsfw.lgbt on April 30th because frankly our server and hosting costs have risen sharply this year and we simply can't afford to fund it ourselves any longer. It's eating into both mine and George's household budgets.
@npub17ue…qz5h - Did you see the email from Karen? I'm going to let you respond.
People are tribal, even on the fediverse, and surprisingly most people don't want federated and interoperable systems even when you explain to them that Email is the largest federated and interoperable system we have today.
That's why so many people have Gmail or Outlook or Yahoo email accounts. Even if another service is objectively better in every facet and measurement, their "address" forms their tribe and identity.
That is a nice font. I used to use TN3270 when connecting to mainframes and I don't remember the fonts looking that good in the app. Where'd you get it?
Good you're up. We need to talk. Calling shortly.
