Got a used https://waldorfmusic.com/protein/ synth. Super excited to fool with and program the thing. It's 4x multi-timbral and you can map virtually any parameter or control to any CC#. This is how it should be in general for modern #midi devices, I think maybe.

My girlfriend and I do a live whatnot show selling sterling jewelry and things, every week. We've been just streaming over her iPhone. But I'm setting up OBS, so we'll be able to do picture-in-picture with DroidCam.
Our background music, currently provided by a Bose speaker, will now be an OBS audio source. Plus, I made a cool #Perl Windows program to trigger cartoon sound effect audio samples with my 64-pad MIDI controller on the laptop that we use for shows. Haha! :D

Working from the bottom up on a #perl midi program to allow my joystick to change cc# settings for X-Y, on the fly. Gotta replace those magic `control_change` literals with a meaningful named hash of some kind, though. 🤔

Starting chapter 4 of my music + Perl book. The book is about programming with musical creativity - not just a how-to on music programming, but rather how to be *creative* with your code. Fun but slow-going. The audience is programmers instead of musicians. And it's hard to not let undefined music theory concepts slide by. Gotta clarify everything. :)

Wow. I had to reinstall Bambu Studio on my Mac again. :eyeroll:

Closer... In this chessboard diagram, the white queen is surrounded by black pieces - 7 pawns and 1 knight. In my WIP, "optimal" probability computation, notice that the queen can capture only 3 of the pawns. (A capture is indicated by a yellow square outline.) The other black pieces are each protecting each other, and so are not possibilities for the queen to take.

Trying to asynchronously send a MIDI clock message, but the interval is always a bit longer than what I tell it to loop over. I tell it 120 beats per minute, but my MIDI device tells me it's clocking at 114 BPM.

@nprofile…w448 Woah! How did that bubble-up? Is that photo on mastodon? It's definitely on my old flickr that yahoo or whoever owns it refuses to let me into.
Also: "featuring a mesh-like texture" - Haha. That's actually bumpy, sound-proofing foam.

So I pretty much avoid AI spew, but I became curious about feeding this prompt to all the free image generators I could find:
"Draw a map of Antarctica with the ice removed, and show features like Lake Vostok, Wilkes Land Crater, and other features."
Besides Microsoft Copilot, every single one failed, by drawing some cartoon bullshit or completely ignoring the instruction about "no ice."
Still, the features are off. The crater is probably not a giant perfect circle. And that's not Vostok.

Weekend work in progress: #Python #music code that extracts the pitch and beat network transition frequencies of any #MIDI and regurgitates a fresh phrase.

Not anything new or earth-shattering, just my take. :)

Apparently, Daphne and Blue got in the garden box and dug up all these potatoes. Tiring work!

@nprofile…69vl Well, you can certainly squash that code to one ugly line like,
```
perl -MData::Dumper -E '%h=(a=>"string",b=>[13,14,15],c=>"another string"); @nprofile…ue5d= map {+{%h, b=>$_}} @{$h{b}}; say Dumper\@nprofile…ue5d'
```

Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to Dazzle, my girlfriend's Aussie. She was way too young to go. Heartbreaking. 😢
But then Daphne and Blue came along. Aussie puppies are amazing. So smart. They send their Mastodon wishes!
