Why are the people running these funds buying it? I mean, I’m having a hard time understanding how the regulating authorities can justify allowing such an apparent fraud in the first place, but I realize they’re controlled by conmen. But why are these funds buying into the opportunity to be left holding the empty bag?

I know America is well on its way on the march into shit, but the Brits aren’t too far behind us. And I know the French and the Germans are holding off fascism by dint of razor thin margins and low chicanery. It’s kind of discouraging, too, that when they brought back the ‘30s it was such a dull, cheap, banal version of the ‘30s. Could we maybe have the cool art deco aesthetics? At least the stormtroopers could be wearing Hugo Boss…

The good thing about avoiding hero worship is: it doesn’t matter to the point if it later turns out that this person did something shitty. This thing Bill Cosby said is funny(or it isn’t, but the thing is contained in those words). “Joss Whedon is awesome,” was always fraught. People who suck can sometimes say things that don’t. Maybe vice versa…

Enforcers having the freedom to choose their level of enforcement was central to the power of racism even in the days of wide-open segregation. Literacy requirements? They just didn’t test white people. The war on drugs? No mention of race, but look at the arrests and charges. Who gets singled out to have their voting rights examined? Not people with pink skin who have trouble with direct sunshine.

Thing I honestly believe, thing I know, really, these guys didn’t put in that whole bit about forfeiture of full bonus(pre-tax) if fired(for ANY REASON) before five years by accident. They have the full intention of firing these rubes before they vest, it’s why they need to hire more rubes. They may be “kind” and not demand the full $50k. You know to mollify them, but working for these people is like riding a scorpion. They WILL sting you. It’s in their nature.

As an added bonus, the character of the dictator-president has a crude fart joke for a name. Buzz Windrip vs Trump.
On the other hand, while no stable genius, he’s more erudite and accomplished than what is in office right now, and is somewhat less of a physical coward. None of this being remotely high praise.

I’m guessing the relative size of LLMs vs PCFGs lies in having to manually build the PCFG. You can build the underlying framework of an LLM and then have it grow by digesting huge masses of data automagically. You have to pay coders to build that gigantic mass of grammars, the LLM can grow without human intervention, and you can even steal the data. It’s practically free other than power and computronium!

Irrigating crops with expensively manufactured artificially flavored and colored salt water is arguably dumber than drinking unpasteurized animal milk(“like you sucked it straight outta the teat!”), but it is incredibly optimistic to assume that a society built on such a foundation of lunacy could survive through five centuries. TBF, I think the idea was a gradual decline and not that we’d be pinning the gauge on bottomless stupidity right off the starting block.
