Take a look at the summary for the climate booklet I've been working on. Chapters 22, 26, and 30 specifically address what may happen and strategies for dealing with it.

Usually speaking my mind requires a great deal of concentration, so it's best if I stroll around a bit with the phone in my hand as I'm dictating. It helps me think! I guess you might say I get some light exercise though, LOL.

I've used speech to text as an occasional writing aid. For me it seems most useful when my brain is overflowing with thoughts that I need to capture. The resultant output still requires lots of editing though, much more so than if I typed it directly.

It's our sociology as well; we seem to be both supporters and victims of an advertising-driven consumption and growth philosophy. Cradle to grave planning and circular economies don't seem to get much support from the common folk.

I worry though that blaming a "system" let's people ignore individual responsibility. Besides, capitalism has been around since the late 18th century, since the industrial revolution. But our major pollution problems started in the mid 20th century, around and after WW II. Over consumption has been driven a lot by sociology; the top 10% produce more than half of the pollution.

I do recommend following a standard employment screening routine... you'll get a wide array of responses, so you have to review resumes, be courteous to applicants, and ask useful questions.

@nprofile…6gnj I don't feel that U.S. citizens have any less courage to preserve democracy. The fact that so many of us are armed, however, makes serious protests extremely dangerous. If our dissatisfaction ever resorted to using armaments in mass, we might very well turn a bad situation into a gigantic catastrophe.

@nprofile…ean3 Sustainable farming is important indeed! So humanity doesn't go extinct we need:
1. Replace GDP with better metric.
2. Less fragile technology.
3. Scenario planning on how population drops to a sustainable level.
4. Better strategic spatial planning to live in concordance with ecoregions.
5. More sustainable agriculture.
6. Attitudes and ongoing education that incorporate natural custodianship.
7. More grassroots organizing to establish green political leadership worldwide.

@nprofile…ean3 This is a terribly incorrect conclusion. Due to the possibility of cascading tipping points, our presently "gradual" pollution of ecosystems may cross into the territory of becoming fast and chaotic.
The large severe events to plan for are phytoplankton destruction (oxygen depletion), rapid ice melt (sudden ocean surface rise), permafrost melt (associated as a trigger to some of the above), ocean acidification (same).

2/2 Think tanks should focus on depopulation studies, offering policy guidance and planning for sustainable, post-collapse survival. So humanity doesn't go extinct we need:
1. Replacing GDP with a better metric.
2. Less fragile technology.
3. Scenario planning to handle a population crash to a sustainable level.
4. Better post-crash strategic spatial planning.

1/2 Current research suggests Earth's sustainable population is around 3 billion, living with Swiss-like efficiency. Over-consumption in large countries and future pollution from high-population poor countries must be reduced. The challenge lies in achieving this while managing climate collapse and its side effects. A gap exists in discourse on handling declining populations within degrowth organizations.
