You're conflating different things. You see how CPU is linked to nodes in the whitepaper? This is not our pleb node without any hash in the modern sense. He wss referring to honest miner nodes, and their purpose is to solve the double-spend problem without a third-party; the premise that is very much still true and functioning today.
While block-template construction is a problem that needs to be solved by our mutual efforts, it is not the same thing as you portray it to be. We knew that centralized block-template construction was a problem much earlier than BIP110.
We need to consciously opt for pools that provide SV2 functionality. If hashers are reluctant to choose these pools and pools are reluctant to adopt SV2, we need to be more encouraging in our approach.
Anyhow, in two epochs, most of hash is gonna drop off, only integrated projects shall remain that will echo the ethos of true bitcoin enthusiasts. My optimism is unwavering on this, maybe it's just nativity.
