I always get a macabre chuckle out of these signs. What could possibly be the purpose, except to increase anxiety? I saw one recently with the verb in past tense, "fallen rock," rather than "falling." That seems marginally more comforting. "Rock may block road" is what they mean, but darlings if a piano-sized boulder is coming at you from above, there's nothing you can do about it through better driving, and it's probably best you don't even know. My reading of this sign is "Be prepared to die."
