TIL that apparently, you _can_ machine uranium. Moreover, it has been done.
The idea of doing this is horrifying, especially because of this gem:
"Finely divided uranium is pyrophoric; therefore machining chips and grinding residue must be handled carefully to avoid the danger of fire. .... Dry power fire extinguishers should be readily available. Never use water on uranium fires. "
