Kees van Dongen. Woman with a Large Hat, 1906.

1906 was quite a year for boobs in painting. Why women's bare chests went suddenly so viral that year is hard to say. I speculate that old strictures had collapsed, Greek Revival was having a revival, women's lib was growing and a new generation of rowdy young post-impressionists (not all men) were looking hard for challenges and shock value.

I post it today because someone marked a breast as CW yesterday and I don't want us to go back.
