My mom has had to cage all of her vegetables because of squirrels, rabbits, chipmunks, and other critters incessantly going after her tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and anything else she happens to be growing. Dusting the plants with cayenne pepper has worked a little bit to cut down on the thievery.
