this hits my memory of dietrich dörners super great read "die logik des misslingens" hard. dörner documents exactly this. the "anchor trap" where first information gets disproportionate weight in decision-making, and subsequent judgments barely deviate from that initial frame. in his microworld experiments (running simulated towns, disaster scenarios), participants would latch onto early hypotheses and filter all new data through them, even when contradictory evidence accumulated. he calls it the "overweight of the actual motive". once you've committed to a mental model, your cognition works to defend it rather than update it.
so when you say "every journey into a subject begins through a doorway someone else built," that doorway IS the anchor. the teacher/ influencer/ LLM sets the coordinate system, and we spend the rest of the conversation adjusting around it instead of questioning why we're in that reference frame at all. dörner found this wasn't stupidity. it was the brain's energy-saving heuristic gone wrong. linear thinking worked in simpler worlds; in interconnected systems it's catastrophic. intellectual honesty means catching yourself mid-anchor and asking: what would force me to abandon my current model entirely?

One of the most important realizations I've had is that most people don't form opinions. They inherit them. Not because they're unintelligent, but because every journey into a subject begins through a doorway someone else built.
A teacher. A journalist. A politician. A podcaster. An author. An influencer. Increasingly, an LLM.
The first person who introduces you to a topic often possesses more power than the facts themselves because they establish the frame through which those facts will be interpreted.
By the time most people encounter opposing arguments, they've often already unconsciously chosen a side. At that point, information is no longer being evaluated. It's being filtered.
This is why two intelligent people can examine the same evidence and arrive at entirely different conclusions. They aren't necessarily disagreeing about the facts. They're operating from different frameworks of reality.
The most effective influencers aren't the ones who openly tell you what to think. They're the ones who make you believe you've arrived at a conclusion independently while carefully controlling the path that led you there.
The older I get, the less interested I become in people's conclusions and the more interested I become in understanding the incentives, assumptions, and narratives that produced them.
Who benefits? What was left unsaid?Which arguments were never presented? Which questions were discouraged? What would the strongest version of the opposing view look like?
Most people never ask these questions because belonging to a tribe is easier than examining one.Yet nearly every major institution depends on tribal thinking.
Politics.Media. Academia.Corporations.
Activist movements. Influencers.
Even many who claim to be exposing propaganda are often constructing a competing version of it.
AI will likely accelerate this dynamic.
Not because artificial intelligence will think for us, but because many people will willingly outsource the difficult work of thinking to systems they don't understand. Every generation has trusted its authorities.
Ours may become the first to trust an authority that can instantly synthesize millions of opinions into a single answer.
The danger isn't merely receiving a biased answer. The danger is forgetting to question the frame from which the answer emerged.
True intellectual independence isn't arriving at the "correct" conclusion, It's maintaining the ability to examine the frame before choosing a side.
In a world where everyone has a platform and every platform has incentives, perhaps the rarest virtue is no longer intelligence.
It's intellectual honesty.

After 50+ spam texts and calls over the last several weeks telling me to vote, my answer remains the same: no.
I've become absolutely indifferent to partisan politics because I no longer believe the fundamental divide is left vs. right. Both factions seem committed to preserving the same underlying system. You're welcome to disagree. My focus isn't on which political tribe gains power next. It's on family, community, faith, and the relationships that no government can manufacture and no election can ultimately sustain.
The most important institution in society isn't the state. It's the family. While politics consumes itself in an endless struggle for power, many of us are busy building lives beyond its reach. That's where my attention will remain.

Na minha opinião, os jovens não vão querer justiça, mas sim vingança.
Se fosse justiça, implicaria um downgrade na qualidade de vida que os seus pais tiveram, mas não, os jovens querem é ter a mesma qualidade de vida que os mais velhos tiveram. Mas isso não é possível, foi esse viver acima das possibilidades, que apenas é possível graças ao sistema FIAT, causou o problema que temos hoje.
Não é com um pensamento de construir um mundo melhor, mas sim, alimentado por inveja.
Sinto que os jovens, não querem um reset no sistema, mas sim, um reboot, querem manter o mesmo sistema, apenas procuram reinicia-lo e sendo eles a geração beneficiada, querem controlar o sistema.
Por isso, eu acredito que o socialismo só tende a crescer, não vão procurar criar um novo sistema, mas sim, atacar quem tem capital. Vão utilizar o estado, que tem o monopólio da violência e da coerção, para confiscar e expropriar a riqueza e propriedade privada.
Resta saber, que tipo de socialismo vai assumir o poder, o comunista ou o nacionalista?
