my tiny human brain could maybe do like 5-10 features per week before if i was really trying? crazy.

Yes. You need to let that go too
pretty sure i have the longest still maintained nostr client. most people come for a short time and leave
really? i must have hallucinated all these changes i made even in the past few months:
### Added
- Add a setting for how much space the database may use, which will trim older notes in the background once it is exceeded (William Casarin)
- Advanced search filters on the explore tab: author, date range, exact phrase, content type and sort (William Casarin)
- Private replies are marked with a lock and the name of the one (William Casarin)
- Private replies notify as private, gated on your direct message notification setting (William Casarin)
- React to a private reply, and the reaction is giftwrapped too (William Casarin)
- Read NIP-17 direct messages from the giftwraps nostrdb unwraps locally (William Casarin)
- Reply privately to a note, gift wrapped to its author (William Casarin)
- Search a single profile's notes from their profile, and open advanced search from a hashtag (William Casarin)
- Search now tells you when a from: filter names somebody it cannot find on this device (William Casarin)
- Search queries now understand from:, since:, until:, kind:, sort:, "exact phrases" and #hashtags (William Casarin)
- Zap a private reply, and the zap is forced to be a private zap (William Casarin)
### Changed
- A private reply now states its audience in place of the usual "Replying to" line instead of on a second line above the note (William Casarin)
- A private reply now states its audience the same way everywhere — "Replying privately to @name", in the composer and on the sent note (William Casarin)
- Adopt the iOS 26 Liquid Glass appearance (William Casarin)
- Advanced search filters opened from a profile or a hashtag now start with the keyboard in the words field (William Casarin)
- Copy note JSON is available on private replies and DMs again, in developer mode (William Casarin)
- Direct messages are now sent as NIP-17 private messages (William Casarin)
- Free Up Space now discards old versions of profiles, contact lists and drafts instead of keeping every one (William Casarin)
- Free Up Space now says how much space it will free the next time you open Damus (William Casarin)
- Freeing up space now clears cached notes and re-downloads them as you browse, instead of trimming by age (William Casarin)
- Hide boost, quote, like, zap, share, broadcast, report and mute-conversation on private replies and DMs (William Casarin)
- Improve home timeline scrolling performance (William Casarin)
- Improve launch time by building the emoji index off the main thread (William Casarin)
- Improve launch time by loading saved drafts off the main thread (William Casarin)
- Improve launch time by storing drafts in a form nostrdb can unwrap on its own threads (William Casarin)
- Improved responsiveness while a NWC wallet is attached (William Casarin)
- Legacy encrypted direct messages (NIP-04) are off by default; Damus now uses NIP-17, which also hides who you are talking to. Turn the old messages back on in Settings -> Privacy. (William Casarin)
- Move "advanced search" on the hashtag timeline out of the overflow menu and onto a search button in the toolbar (William Casarin)
- Move "search this profile's notes" out of the profile overflow menu and onto a search button in the profile toolbar (William Casarin)
- Plain word searches now use the advanced search results screen, with filter chips, a result count, and an empty state that says where it looked (William Casarin)
- Replace the database compaction button with "Free Up Space Now", which trims older notes in the background instead of requiring a restart to reclaim free pages (William Casarin)
- Replying to a private reply is always private, and cannot be made public (William Casarin)
- Report which stage of a database trim failed, and what the database said about it (William Casarin)
- Send and receive NIP-17 DMs over kind-10050 DM inbox relay lists (William Casarin)
- Shrink the database snapshot shared with app extensions (William Casarin)
- The advanced search filter sheet now has a Cancel button, and Reset moved to the bottom of the form (William Casarin)
- The app no longer blocks on a database optimization screen at launch (William Casarin)
- The privacy lock for a private reply is now a button in the composer's attachment bar, and the reply line names the one person a private reply goes to (William Casarin)
- The search buttons on a profile and a hashtag timeline now open the search filters with the author or tag already filled in, instead of immediately listing everything they ever posted (William Casarin)
- The tab bar now shrinks as you scroll down a timeline on iOS 26 (William Casarin)
- Timeline filters now sit in a glass bar above the tab bar on iOS 26, instead of at the top of the screen (William Casarin)
- Trim older notes in the background when the database grows past its configured size limit, instead of compacting at launch (William Casarin)
- Update the vendored nostrdb, which runs a one-time note metadata migration on first launch (William Casarin)
- Use a native tab bar, preserving each tab's navigation stack when switching tabs (William Casarin)
- Use damus purple for the tab bar unread dot (William Casarin)
### Fixed
- A private reply received from another client no longer names its sender as the person it was sent to (William Casarin)
- Fix NIP-17 DM history never being fetched from relays without negentropy support (William Casarin)
- Fix NIP-17 DMs not arriving when our DM inbox relay list was missing or partially connected (William Casarin)
- Fix Storage settings promising to free space on every restart, and the trimming that had silently stopped running behind it (William Casarin)
- Fix a second attempt to free up space failing with an out-of-memory error (William Casarin)
- Fix duplicate profile search entries caused by a nostrdb key comparison bug (William Casarin)
- Fix search result highlights making matched hashtags unreadable (William Casarin)
- Fix search result highlights making matched hashtags unreadable (William Casarin)
- Fix the extension database snapshot growing to gigabytes (William Casarin)

- Fixed the advanced search filters dropping the words the search was opened with, and show the hashtags a search covers (William Casarin)
- Fixed the banner edit button in Edit Profile being unclickable (William Casarin)
- Keep each tab's navigation where you left it when switching tabs (William Casarin)
- Muted notes no longer show up in search results (William Casarin)
- Restore the unread indicator on the tab bar, now as a native badge (William Casarin)
- Show a notification for NIP-17 direct messages (William Casarin)
- Shrink the tab bar unread indicator to a small dot (William Casarin)
- The advanced search author picker now says when it cannot find a profile, instead of showing nothing at all (William Casarin)
I should have done this desktop version a long time ago. Agents have so much trouble testing on Android emulators. It's so much easier to test on the JVM.

Whenever I'm having a real sh*t day, the two things that help me get my head right:
• Setting out to get one small win that has nothing to do with what i was planning to work on (change the stupid toilet paper holder that keeps getting loose and hanging down, hang the curtain rods i've been putting off for weeks, etc).
• Clean the room. Get rid of the boxes i needed to deal with forever. Take that box of random screws and bits and little tools that i didn't have a good place for and actually go through and organize them properly, throw away what doesn't fit into my system.
Inevitably ill get some sense of progress and I'll feel a little bit more capable of dealing with the forever failing or forever "next week" projects that span years and weigh on everything else i try to do. What's your process?
Yin yang, yeow meong.

Let it die. Nobody pays for relay unless they're a business. And then, that business needs a reason to run besides charity imho
If you paid per token instead of a monthly plan you probably wouldn't waste so much time building nonsense nobody will use
Taste will be gone too. You’re training it on your taste now.
Imagine how regular people would’ve dealt with this 200 years ago.
going to expand the strfry plugin system into REQs to limit people who DoS relays read-bandwidth wise. will also be useful for users to register wasm REQ filters to filter stuff serverside before it gets to you
