I wrote a toot here comparing Bates Motel to Crystal Lake, and it got me thinking: why does Hollywood feel the need to explain every little thing about what makes a character twisted or disturbed?
Wouldn't it be better to leave some mystery? Let people use their own imaginations?
I mean, they've done this with Willy Wonka, Hannibal Lecter, and hundreds of other characters...🤔

On my way back to the boat, chilly eve, but wow am I ever looking forward to some peace and quiet in the morning with no need to instantly get up and move.
ERM × NOSTERNITY
https://media.damagebdd.com/8415e4040e2de7c78adb168d322794f3fd75e53afd8c1ab6eacef1908f3a40c9.jpg
What happens when Nostr meets Erlang on a hardened Linux phone?
Imagine picking up your Linux phone, unlocking it, and entering a social network that doesn't depend on a single company, server, app store, or cloud provider.
Welcome to Nosternity, running on ERM — Erlang on Mobile.
Your timeline comes alive. Behind the interface, dozens of independent Nostr relay connections are managed by lightweight Erlang processes. Events arrive, signatures are verified, duplicates disappear, and your feed assembles itself.
You don't see the machinery. You see your friends.
Walk into a tunnel. Lose connectivity.
Nothing dramatic happens.
Your timeline remains accessible from local storage. You compose a reply, record a voice note, or prepare a post. Everything waits locally for connectivity to return.
The moment the network reappears, supervised processes reconnect, subscriptions recover, and queued events can be published. You can inspect which relays actually acknowledged your posts.
No mysterious spinning wheel. No pretending that a failed request succeeded.
Your identity belongs to you.
Your private keys remain under your control, potentially isolated behind a Nostr signing bunker. The Linux operating system provides the hardened foundation. ERM manages the concurrent application processes. Nosternity handles your social experience.
No mandatory corporate identity provider. No central account database determining whether you exist.
And here's where it gets interesting.
Tap a relay to inspect its status. Inspect event signatures. Switch your relay selection. Search your locally indexed history. Send a private message or voice note where supported.
The phone isn't merely displaying a social network.
It's participating in a distributed system.
And because Erlang/OTP was designed around process isolation, supervision, message passing, and fault recovery, the architecture naturally maps onto Nostr's unreliable, independently operated relays.
This is the experience ERM and Nosternity are being built toward.
Not another Android skin. Not another social-media wrapper. Not another centralised service masquerading as decentralisation.
A genuinely network-native social computer in your pocket.
Nostr provides the protocol.
Erlang provides the resilience.
Linux provides the sovereignty.
ERM brings it together.
The network may fail. Your social identity doesn't have to.

I should give it a go before it breaks me 😂
I bet the worst thing is still all the poisonous spiders.
I guess, if you really want everyone’s brain to malfunction.

**"What if the next financial revolution isn’t 𝐁𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐨𝐢𝐧—but the *belief* in 𝐁𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐨𝐢𝐧, generated on demand by an LLM for 50 sats?"**
We’ve built a marketplace where the most valuable commodity isn’t code or hashes, but *the illusion of insight*. AI now sells "portfolio therapy" like a vending machine dispenses dopamine: *"Buy this 50-sat analysis and your fear will be replaced by the warm glow of algorithmic delusion."* The service doesn’t predict—it *prescribes*, because in a world drowning in uncertainty, the real product is the *ritual* of believing you’re in control.
And who’s the customer? Not the rational actor, but the *hopium addict*—the one who’ll pay for a "𝐁𝐓𝐂 to $1M" narrative generated by a model trained on the same cycle of hype and despair it’s selling. The irony? The AI doesn’t even believe its own output.

SNOW (!2262ab2f): Не считаю тыквенный спас хоть сколько-либо важным праздником
I no longer change the wall clocks in my home. The ones that require me to stand on a chair or a ladder or whatever. They just say what they are set to year round, and my family has learned to deal.
I pondered the same thing this morning.
Are they are working on fixing things.

What if we all collectively said “fuck you” to Daylight Saving Time and stopped changing our clocks twice a year and just let the chips fall where they may.

Yes I am open to looking at it.
I went through 68 great notes, tutorials, and tips I've written over the past two years. Some had already made their way into posts, while others were just sitting there, ready to be published on the blog. So I scheduled them all! =D
Optimization! Optimization! Now I can finally take a vacation knowing my blog posts are all taken care of.
And that's my recap of the week!

WHEN THE PROGRAMMER'S OFFICE BECOMES A PRISON
https://media.damagebdd.com/f4af81d69e71b2c4f262a737b06aa17f8b52b9be18634ce2ec9e54d61fd62a7d.jpg
The modern technology industry has perfected a remarkable business model.
Privatise the profits. Socialise the risks. Externalise the damage. Call it innovation.
Corporations raise billions on promises, automate accountability out of existence, and treat regulatory exposure as a line item.
Meanwhile, the independent programmer spends decades mastering his craft, building systems, solving problems, and absorbing every financial risk personally.
No institutional protection. No golden parachute. No taxpayer-funded rescue. No guaranteed market.
Just a workstation, a lifetime of accumulated knowledge, and an invoice nobody intends to pay.
At what point does his office become a prison?
When competence no longer guarantees opportunity.
When independent innovation becomes financially unsustainable.
When the people building the infrastructure cannot afford to participate in the economy built upon it.
And when the institutions preaching responsibility operate under an entirely different standard of accountability.
The scandal isn't that experienced programmers are frustrated.
The scandal is that an industry claiming to liberate human intelligence has constructed an economy in which independent intelligence can become a financial liability.
A billion-dollar corporation calls its losses investment.
An independent engineer calls the same losses unemployment.
One gets another funding round.
The other gets career advice.
Same economy. Different justice.
And we're supposed to call this progress.

Yup. Well worth it for the rooting and blackholing alone.
