Stacking sats is the main game , but I regularly buy coffee and groceries locally using Lightning whenever a merchant accepts it. Sats are too valuable to just sit in a vault forever.
Can you guess how we voted? Lol
Groceries, gas and restaurants, through gift cards paid over Lightning. Not glamorous, but it's where most of our everyday spending goes.
I will zap all comments to this poll detailing how you spend bitcoin.

There are different terminals. Handhelds at best require merchant interaction (including employer TIN input first time -- don't hassle your cashier!). The register types with a customer facing screen typically don't.
And remember that them taking Bitcoin gets them a 3% revenue boost. You're doing THEM a favor. If they're not interested, their loss, but don't go in begging. Do be sure to out them on @nprofile…4lpn for their participation.

Gran Canaria currently hosts 11 active merchants mapped across the island. The infrastructure is splitting beautifully into two distinct hubs:
• North (Las Palmas area): 8 active merchants forming a tight network.
• South (San Bartolomé de Tirajana area): 3 active merchants.
The best part? It’s a diverse ecosystem. In the south alone, you can spend sats on:
• Lodging: SanCarli Apartment
• Food: Bio Finca Las Tenerías
• On/Off Ramps: GBTC Finance
The Bitcoin circular economy is quietly taking root in Spain! 🇪🇸 @nprofile…4lpn shows 357 merchants active on the mainland, and the momentum has swept into the Canary Islands with 32 active spots.
Let's look at the breakdown on Gran Canaria... 👇

But it would be a game-changer if we could do the exact same thing natively right here on Nostr. Imagine being able to search the protocol not just by a username, but instantly filtering by business type, jurisdiction, products, or services.
Great initiatives like @nprofile…y308 and @nprofile…mcdw are already laying incredible groundwork for local adoption. If we can back that up with native protocol discovery tools, finding and supporting each other's sovereign businesses will become completely effortless. ⚡️🙌
I have not really any friends and family which is in BTC anymore. They all moved on to Monero for many reasons. But also I have not a single messenger app where I can send fiat, also no need for that.
I like keeping in contact with other plebs and I'm always trying to get friends and family into Bitcoin. Nostr DMs are so shit for the former and the latter is always a challenge.
This bridges two gaps for me personally:
1. I can chat with my fellow Bitcoiners securely and reliably
2. Since most of my friends and fam already use Signal it's a perfect way to introduce them to Bitcoin Lightning and show them how easy it is.
Number two is especially strong if I just point them to @nprofile…hf7c as well.
Literally it's "yo I can send you Bitcoin just as easily as sending fiat on other messaging apps and you can go into the real world and actually spend it."
This can seriously be so powerful for adoption. No need to tell your normie friends they have to set up a wallet and explaining how everything works. Just being able to send it on a Signal chat.
I'm seriously so psyched for this.
