😊 thanks, they're fun to make
They could be. I'd have to order stronger magnets. The ones I use now are very thin so they don't mess up book pages
very cool.
are the strong enough to be a chip clip?

The way you praised bitchat when it's a spying app used by law enforcement to track people makes it difficult to trust anything you've made.
I can't trust people that talk about Bitchat without giving people a disclaimer about it not being safe
I'm in the same boat and I also love when apps offer a good font size customization.
I will check the doi trick!
I will check, thanks for reporting.
Works well on Ubuntu 24.04.
Maybe just use the screen's dpi value to determine fonts and elements sizes, as I'm old and I suffer a bit with my 4K screen 👴
:phpbb2-exclaim: Manent on Android doesn't work with CustID. We had a quick look in your souce code and it seems it still use the old `amberflutter`, which doesn't follow the NIP-55 correctly (still expects `signature`, as NIP-55 apps should expect `result`).
Thabks. I'll try it when I get home. 👍
@npub1mar…f3g0 I removed ffmpeg and declared pulseaudio-utils as dependency, let me know if this preview works for you:
https://github.com/dtonon/manent/releases/tag/v3.0.1-linux-preview
Let me know if something moves, thanks!
Can you run these and send back the output:
ls -l /usr/bin/parecord
grep Exec /usr/share/applications/manent.desktop
/usr/bin/manent
With the third command the app starts from the terminal. If recording works from there, the problem is the launcher's environment and not the package. Also useful: with the app open, the PATH it actually has:
cat /proc/$(pgrep -n manent)/environ | tr '\0' '\n' | grep ^PATH=
it just does raw REQs right now, i'd have to implement client-side filtering. perhaps could add a `--filter -t todo` that does client-side filtering, but need to think about it more.
Yes, tags are encrypted in the payload.
The idea is to create a view with something like "req -k 33301 wss://chronicle.dtonon.com -t #manent #todo #urgent" and it shows only those notes.
Of course it's not a real req, the tags should be filtered after the actual fetch. I don't know if/how grimoire handles cached events, so I don't even know if that's possible.
wdym by views with specific tags? aren't private note tags encrypted and can't query them with a single REQ? i think i looked at this at some point but didn't get to it. trying to make sure i understand what you envision.
@npub107j…ncxg any plan to support #Manent's private notes in grimoire.rocks?
It would be cool to have views with specific tags. I could easily set up a Trello-like personal dashboard.
Imagine somebody who claims to be a self sovereign, freedom and privacy minded person so dumb that they use crAPPLE products in the first place. And then participate in a crAPPLE humiliation ritual by begging and boot licking their way into the app store, only to fail FOUR times.
Can you share full Apple"s reply?
whit you fat fuck stfu would you?
Doube weird.
Let me check.
Yeah I had it installed before running it. :/
- Information wants to be free.
- You can't stop information spreading being local-only.
- Being cool ain't cool anymore 😜
Some things that come to my mind:
If some information is accessible to anyone from anywhere then it's much less valuable.
There are many things people are more comfortable sharing if they don't expect it to spread through the entire world and be on the public record forever.
It's much more cool to be local-only.
I installed them. ffmpeg version 6.1.1-3 ububtu5 and pacat 16.1.0 on Zorin Os
Some family stuff came up, good stuff, but I'll have to try a little later. :)
Mmhh. Thanks for the report.
Can you check if you have pulseaudio-utils and ffmpeg installed? I avoided to bundle them to save space
If that is not the problem, please share which distro you are using.
I'm not sure why it's not working.

I was a big manyverse fan. Sad that they shut down before they could release the new protocol with deletes and other improvements.
Bitchat has never worked for me or anyone I know personally, don't know why messages just never appear. I'd really like an app where the chat is accessible only from the "place", for conferences @npub1r9z…q8lx @npub17ph…htw3 etc because coordinating telegram chat for events is crap if you don't have an invite or know the group name
So far so good.

Checked the v3.0.0 linux-x64 tar.gz and .deb on Debian 13 (glibc 2.41). I didn't drive the UI, but the packaging check turned up one thing worth knowing before "any current distro":
- Three bundled libs need GLIBC_2.38: libflutter_secure_storage_linux_plugin.so, libggml-base.so and libwhisper_ggml_plus.so (the __isoc23_strtol/strtoll/strtoull symbols, which is what a newer toolchain emits). The secure-storage plugin is linked straight into the main binary, so on glibc 2.35-2.37 it should fail at launch, not only when transcribing. That rules out Ubuntu 22.04 / Mint 21 (2.35) and Debian 12 (2.36). Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 13 and Fedora 39+ are fine (glibc versions from Repology).
- The .deb only declares Depends: libmpv2, libsecret-1-0, so apt will happily install it on Debian 12 / 22.04 and it breaks on first run. Adding libc6 (>= 2.38) to Depends, or building on an older runner image, would fix that.
- Everything else resolves: with the tar.gz, ldd's only missing lib is libmpv.so.2 (pulled in by the media_kit video plugin), which matches the README note to install libmpv2 / mpv-libs.
Quick way to repeat it: objdump -T manent lib/*.so | grep -o 'GLIBC_[0-9.]*' | sort -Vu | tail -1
It works well. Now that I think about it, it’s a feature I need.
I just tried the apk. It's pretty freaking neat. Let me see if I can run it on Zorin.
Any linux users around that can test #Manent's new builds?
(appImages has gone)

I mean GPS can also help to navigate when you search a path. Or internet in regions that did not have any before.
Two things I want: interoperability (e.g. nymchat can talk to bitchat) and mesh support in the browser (so everybody can quickly join without having to install an app; I hope we get Web Bluetooth support in Safari soon)
I don't get it where's the advantage of being local-only Vs. being local-first, tbh.
Is there something else besides quality control and spam filtering?
🤔
> I want to see if I can fight the inherent tendencies of digital media to accelerate communication and erode local identities by using it in a new way.
Brilliant.

Besides my opinion on your decision and suggestions in my quote message, I'm sorry for you and your lost brain cycles while you've been in flight. PV 🫂
Today I found out why two posts I wrote after switching my outbox relays to a lesser-known one don't show up in iPhone clients.
😂 when they spy on my phone. I wonder if it says this action violates the biblical text and your practicing immoral and unethical practices. . .I pray one day my work red flags 🚩then. . .And on that day I pray 🙏 I get the proof 🤣
I'm not sure I totally get it, but I'll give it a try.
What is this magic signature scheme that prevents universal verifiability? I don't understand.
How much work went into the bluetooth aspect of this? Because i have a robot grinding out a bluetooth engine that dynamically adjust the network topology based on the purpose and circumstances. Well, the robots are busy working on other stuff at the moment, but i have a small fleet of android devices that run live tests.
An early version of the engine is inside the current version of table mesh.
Unless you already nailed the bluetooth stuff, i could add any uses/scenarios you have in mind into the lab runs so you can eventually use the engine as well
