@nprofile…rxg6 I've also wondered about the general moral of decent police officers when they see they are being used to arrest aged peaceful protestors. How long is anyone going to respect their own position in that? It's a form of 'I was only following orders,' but such a position either corrupts or leaves no choice but to leave, resulting in the sort of police force most of us do not want.

I downloaded LibreOffice yesterday and am trying it out. I want to move myself away from Microsoft as conveniently to me as possible. I hate the way things went (like having word etc) built in with windows to them moving to making me pay an annual fee. Just a little push back for this old lady but it is a push back.

I’m not looking forward to trying to park today, I'd choose not to go forth at all but middle son's foot needs care and attention and hospital appointment smack in the middle of the day, so one poor old dear in pain from hip waiting for replacement that never comes, and one nearly 60 year old son who must not be on his feet will struggle today, I will accept all sympathy offered! ☀️ 🥵 😅

Fire Brigade out yesterday evening in the next village to me, a field was alight. Farmer helped the brigade by ploughing a fire break so it didn't spread but a whole lot of unpleasant smoke. Ground is tinder dry, lots of care needed.

Please Boost. There’s no algorithm deciding what is of interest to others oon Mastodon, the network is powered by people choosing to share. Every boost puts a post directly into other timelines, where it can keep spreading.
In practice, boosting is Mastodon’s algorithm. If something’s worth seeing, please boost it.

@nprofile…e4ry I have my own paintings as well as other art (friends who are also artists etc). I used to have lots of wall space but now do not so I have my absolute favs aways up and rotate the other every six months. Since my studio was flooded (still not back in use after a year) I have external storage. Good luck!😊

Looking in at the USA from outside, I'm actually astonished that the only ones being shot are children in school. Not because that is unusual, sadly not, but because, with so many guns floating around, and a fascist regime, one could have half expected what would be seen as a civil war. Maybe it a case of the analogy of the frog being sowly warmed then boiled to death (it's an analogy). I hope that the USA Constitiution is robust enough for decent people to push back against a Tyrant, but often it seems that the world is holding its breath. Let's hope for better and safer times. #Mastodon #Fediverse #USA

Imagine Jesus showing up today: brown-skinned, Middle Eastern, speaking uncomfortable truths, lifting up the vulnerable, and calling out the rich and powerful.
He moved among the outcast.
He challenged empire, not to seize control, but to dismantle it with love and justice.
And today? The loudest 'Christians' would label him a threat. Too political. Too foreign. Too soft. Too woke.
They’d call ICE. Put him on a plane to El Salvador.
Then go live-stream a sermon about 'faith.'
It’s strange, really, how a religion built on a man crucified by the state for challenging power has become a tool for protecting it.
It's hard to imagine Jesus being welcome in many of the USA churches bearing his name.

I'm doubting that anyone will get to see the Winter sunrise at Stonehenge, certainly if the weather is like it is here in Bugbrooke which is under two hours from there. Even so, happy Winter Solstice, we move into light from now on.

@nprofile…znrv Storm Bert (UK) firstly water was coming through street drains then the brook overflowed (Brook can rise but has not done this for at least 50 years and since then has Dutch drain system that usually works so there are questions from the Agency responsible for adjusting barriers etc.)

Today: In one minute, write a note to yourself, about what you want to happen in the next month. Seal the note in an Envelope, address it to yourself, post it with a caveat on the back, that it is not to be opened until the date one month hence. If you cannot post it (go on, it will help keep the posties in a job). When it arrives (or if not poste), put it somewhere you will find it in time.) Read it on the appropriate day.

I'm getting disheartened by Duolingo. I've done a little free version Welsh everyday for six months, enjoyed it. Suddenly they decided to 'push' their sign-up advert so hard, that it's sign up or give up on Duolingo.. I know I need more speaking practise, that will come after I've got understanding, reading, spelling, pronunciation under my belt a bit. I had considered signing up until they pushed so hard. Maybe I'm just an ornery person who won't be pushed. #Duolingo #Fediverse #Mastodon
