@nprofile…d0yj Yes I haven't seen the last season of Alice in Borderland either, but have been enjoying it so far. I think I've been confusing Three Body and Three Body Problem, I'll have a look for it, and the others, thanks.

@nprofile…d0yj Any Asian shows you'd recommend? I always need more non-US and/or non-english-language media.

Overheard some barely-teenage kids on the train:
"Would you get jealous if you girlfriend got a girlfriend?"
*pause*
"Not if she was ok with me getting a boyfriend."
The kids are alright it seems.

Ooh, finally got a picture of one of the possums in the trees outside my front door.

I got out of the shower earlier, and there was a cat in my bedroom.
I do not have a cat.
I live alone.
I do not know how the cat got in.
But I opened the door, and after examining one of my bikes, the cat left.
I should probably expect more of this given the amount of cats I've seen around.

@nprofile…7ahz when you open a terminal to run those commands , the terminal will by default be in your home directory (/home/yourname), whereas the desktop is its own directory inside your home directory (/home/yourname/Desktop most likely), so you need to help the terminal find the file by changing the working directory of the terminal to where your install file is before running the command…
cd ~/Desktop
sudo sh ./install.sh
Or just point at the full path to the file:
sudo sh ~/Desktop/install.sh
Notes:
~/ is a shortcut for “in my home directory”
./ is a shortcut for “in this directory”
cd is literally “change directory”
Directory is the traditional name for a folder

Mostly you can just ignore whatever they say to add and instead make it up with just a can of lemonade (or apparently coke for chocolate cake, not tried it).
This actually feels even more about Linux somehow.

General plan for the touring bike electrics:
I need to be able to charge phone/camera/laptop, and also power head/tail lights. I also need the lights to work when I'm not moving (handy at camp) or just not moving fast (hill climbing etc), which means I need to power things from a battery/powerbank, and not directly from a dynamo or similar.
So the goal is redundancy; have both a front dynamo hub and a small solar panel charging a powerbank, and then charge and run the lights off that.

dynamo (6vAC 3w)
So any ideas for the 'magic box' to take two different inputs and charge a power bank?

Hey Fedi, please help!
I'm still unemployed, and trying to fix that, but I still have rent and bills, and this week is particularly rough.
I have a phone/internet bill due on the 16th (covered and paid).
A water bill due on the 19th ($50/$250 - current goal).
And then rent at the end of the week (covered). I can probably be a little late on the water bill if I have to, but I can't risk the phone/internet (I need them to get a job) or the rent (because life).
So I need about $900 in total. Please help if you can, or boost if you can't.
I'm sorry I keep begging, I've run out of stuff to sell that wouldn't put me in a worse position without it, and just don't know what else to do.
On the other hand, if you know anywhere looking to hire a C developer, Javascript developer, webdev, unix sysadmin, storeperson, cleaner, dishwasher or whatever, either remotely or in Brisbane Australia, let me know? Even just once-off odd-jobs would do for now.
If you can help financially though, that'd be huge. Thank you.

Hey Fedi, I'm getting surgery in a few days (Friday, 4th April) to cut a lump out of my abdomen, and while everything medical is covered by public healthcare, I need a bit of help covering living expenses while I can't work for a few weeks, so have set up this crowdfunder to get me through:
Update: I’ve had the surgery, the lump was bigger than expected so I needed a drain bag after and have stayed in hospital for a few days. The drain is now out, I’ll be out of hospital in today or tomorrow (Sunday or Monday), but I won’t be able to work for at least six weeks.
Update 2: I'm out of hospital, and napping a lot in my own bed; fuzzy headed, slow moving, and aching, but slowly improving.

Random thing I just heard/learnt:
Pay toilets fell out of favour in Canada after two men were caught having sex in a train station toilet stall, and successfully argued in court that as they had paid for access it was a privately rented space so they couldn't be charged with public indecency.
