oh I feel you, specifically that annoyance. About 2 weeks ago I watched google maps on phone while walking a street in a bad state. Of course I twisted my ankle and fell. I still cannot walk quite normally yet.
Entirely my fault and uncalled for, but what can you do?
Hugs!

the maddest thing I did in that respect was I think it was Windows95 where you could specify wav files for all kind of events, max/minimizing windows and the like.
I then got all the files from the game Quake and associated them fittingly. Glorious days!

lovely!
I noticed your characters sometimes have small noses. Do you have also a nice cackling witch with a massive horn of a nose? 😅

not nice indeed. But if a car is crossing your way and you have green, they must have been passing a red light!

On the note of #Pratchett, after having swept through the whole Death storyline, I am trying to get into the witches one with Wyrd Sisters and actually finding it a bit difficult.

@npub16ys…sjae Hi there,
Only recently did I come across your work as shown on your website, and I have to say, I really dig your style and the stories you write. Thank you for that and have a good time:)

when you earn your money on YT you tend to become a character.
One could unpack that statement but it‘ll certainly take longer than 7 minutes.

This is really not about the tech. Never has been.

I *just* started a #dotnet #aspire based experiment containing a #ravendb container and client and have as Nuget dependencies:
12 direct, 90 indirect ones.
If I hear one more joke about the #npm ecosystem from #dotnet folks, you deserve a batman-like slap.

The secondary effect, which you neglect in this kind of posts, is the networking you can do on such protests. You can find like-minded individuals and talk to them face to face.
This gives you an idea whether you're alone or not as well as finding people who may be right up your alley in what to do next.

the viscosity comes from chemical properties and actual (electromagnetic ) structure of those „spheres“, right? So, starting from elastic spheres feels like an exercise in futility 🤔

In the world of instant gratification devices, messed up dopamine pathways and infinite light, you can pick your death: Stop access to the dopamine slot machines or make sure people get into bed at some point. #imho
A question I ask myself from time to time: Discipline doesn’t seem in any way a favorable trait anymore. So, how do you use it when you need it without having ever learned it, or do you get by without discipline?

I can understand that - that video was ridiculous and she apparently fell for the forces that the analytics dashboard of YT exerts on you.
Even so, paper mills are a thing, are they not? And the linked article still doesn’t engage with her years old main argument that particle physics is not doing good science by providing models that can be disproven but do not really add anything essential to the current body of physics.
It is unfortunate that her overshooting now means that we will not see any engagement with her main arguments, but I also agree that this is hardly the time to attack science as a whole, considering the damage that is being done as we speak by the private sector. Privatization of science, pfff!

then, bluntly spoken,I”m not people.
That’s no news actually.
Finally, in an unhealthy producer/consumer relationship, I always blame the producer. That’s why you wanna catch the drug lords, not the addicts.
The “giving people what they want” trope is lazy, unethical and ultimately unrealistic.

Protecting a #democracy against its own electorate is kind of…conceptually broken. Is there a solution out there that makes sense?
When the majority is not interested in democratic processes, the logical conclusion is their unwinding.
Of course, getting them back on is much harder, but that’s a different story.
And sure you can ask why the majority is not interested in such a situation - clearly we failed at educating the current and future electorate.
But what’s done is done.
