@nprofile…xkhf Depends on the context for me.
My 13 heart old was very rebellious regarding wearing a coat. She would spend the night at grandma's mid week, and insist that today's weather mean it would be it would be the same on the way home. Would absolutely refuse.
A storm was incoming. She refused to wear a coat or bring an umbrella, despite my showing her the forecast.
She had to walk the better part of a mile during a storm to transit with no jacket or umbrella during that storm, and we could not pick her up. San Francisco, so not icy or dangerous but not comfortable either.
We met her with a warm jacket and hot coco. Commiserated with her, didn't rub it in.
She checks the weather now and keeps an umbrella in her bag. But she had to learn that lesson herself, she was not willing to learn it from me.
It is my job to let her learn to live with the consequences of her decisions, but without the consequences being too severe. But it is a balance as a parent for sure.
