@nprofile…z8kt I think it must be an American English spelling, as seen here on a detail of this panel painted for me in 2020 by the wonderful Mark Oatis: https://bl.ag/behind-the-panel-alf-becker-at-lockdown-letterheads/

Does anyone have any suggestions for sources of photography from Spain in the 1940s and 1950s?
I'm especially interested in images showing signs from those decades and, more specifically, hand-painted signs, so suspect images from bigger cities will be most fruitful.
Thanks in advance for any leads, and please boost to reach others that may be able to help.

Thank you to @nprofile…x4rn for hosting yesterday’s Salon event with Morgane Côme and yours truly.
Working at incredible speed while we slept, the archive has published the recording online already. All 85 minutes can now be viewed here:
https://letterformarchive.org/shop/salon-series-56-the-history-and-craft-of-french-sign-painting/
The book itself is such a treat and I highly recommend North American customers ordering a copy directly from Letterform Archive:

Those in Europe/elsewhere can compare shipping prices with those in the BLAG shop, which is a great alternative to other online retailers 😊:
