Truth be told I do not think it is time to give up on Linux at a time when the normies have started warming up to it, they will NEVER warm up to BSD. BSD is an OS for tinkerers who want to build everything themselves like it is the 2000s. There is a place for this, but if we want to dethrone Windows, this is not the right path. Normies have only begun warming up to Linux because of things like flatpaks and less reliance on the terminal.

This is about the whole kerfuffle (no pun intended) with Torvalds decided to allow vibe-coded contributions into the kernel.
I feel a lot of people are going to (understandably and rightfully!) be concerned about Torvalds being daft and try to switch to another open-source OS (like NetBSD or RedoxOS), only to discover that, well, it can't run 80% of Linux software or runs outdated versions of it, then begrudgingly switch back.

Is there anyone in #Texas who is willing to take in a #disabled queer #furry who is fleeing an abusive household that is crawling with mold? They are under constant harassment by their father and stepmother and their mental health is decreasing day by day.
This would be a couch-surf type of arrangement. Payment, if needed, should be less than rent, but can be minor monetary payment or household chores. Transport can be arranged by us.
Somewhat urgent! Pls boost!

When Russia hosted the 2018 World Cup, there were water bottles shaped like soccer balls. Cute, and would have been unnotable if they were opaque or tinted.
But they of course just had to be translucent. Many fires started.

A bit of a question to my fellow writers (especially those who write speculative fiction).
Is it strange that I think the whole "sci-fi and fantasy are the same actually" factoid that's prominent in some genre analysis circles, doesn't make sense?
To me it's about aesthetic, not so much themes or story structure. If a story has wizards and prophecies and magic swords, it's fantasy. If it has spaceships and robots and aliens, it's sci-fi.
If it has both it's both.

Is it true that there was a time when compilers were considered AI?

Writers of Fedi: since the rise of AI, have you stopped using stylistic elements now commonly associated with AI-generated text? (examples: "it's not X it's Y", em dashes, lists of 3 things, some words like "tapestry")
