If I move to Static HTML and CSS, I’ll need a way to handle search and RSS. And how to import a shed load of Wordpress posts.

In this week's Better Offline monologue, Ed Zitron runs through how 70% of Microsoft, Google and Amazon’s AI revenues are from Anthropic and OpenAI, with 7% of Microsoft’s FY26 revenue coming from OpenAI alone, and how this is cast-iron proof that demand for AI doesn’t exist at a scale that warrants any of the trillion dollars in capex they’ve spent.

@nprofile…l326 I thought we were past things like the Victorian Airship and 1950s Flying Saucer flaps.
I should have known better.
We may have lived through the semi-sensible times. 😕

@nprofile…l326 Fingers crossed, I've solved the glitches I was having with the Grammarly Desktop for Mac by turning off a few new features I didn’t need.

I turned off Apple Intelligence on my iPad Pro and Mac. It's unavailable on my iPhone 12 Pro Max, and I don't want or need to get a new one. Not just for Apple Intelligence or Apple Writing Tools.
I have Grammarly Pro to check the stuff I write in any text for errors. I can also use an LLM directly if I need to.

It’s a hyperbole factory over there!

Why are US citizens not protesting in the streets?
“Recent Commonwealth Fund research found that 45% of insured working-age adults were charged for something they thought should have been free or covered by insurance, and less than half of those who reported suspected billing errors challenged them. And 17% of respondents said their insurer denied coverage for care that was recommended by their doctor.”

@nprofile…kyj5 @nprofile…sv3y Going Postal by Terry Pratchett audiobook read by Richard Coyle. It’s a masterpiece of a book and the Richard Coyle audiobook is sublime.
And if you like it there are two others that are sequels. Making Money and Raising Steam.

Progress!
“Under a new law in Belgium - the first of its kind in the world - this will now be the case. Sex workers will be entitled to official employment contracts, health insurance, pensions, maternity leave and sick days. Essentially, it will be treated like any other job.”
