A huge thank you to the 12 people who have already supported Mobilizon: €453 raised—that’s invaluable!
But today is a decisive day: a member of the team must decide whether to continue working on the project or go back to her usual job.
Every donation counts, no matter how small, and a monthly donation helps us build for the long term.
If you can, now is the time:

Thank you also for re-sharing

Not receiving the Mobilizon newsletter?
There could be two reasons for this:
1 / You’ve never signed up—in which case, here’s the link: https://mailing.zoocoop.com/subscription/form
(You can also find the link at the very bottom of https://mobilizon.org)
2 / The last one was in September 2024, and you may have forgotten about it in the meantime.
The new newsletter is about to go out—don’t miss it, because it’s almost as rare as a solar eclipse.

A real alternative to Meetup?
Mobilizon aims to offer a decentralised, more affordable alternative to Meetup for organizing activities and building groups.
The ambition is there, but there’s still a long way to go. We need to keep improving the software and, just as importantly, encourage more people and organizations to use it.
Achieving this goal requires people, resources and sustainable funding.

Last week, Mobilizon was invited to a “free software design clinic.”
This clinic helped us redefine our priority: everyday users.
We receive feedback mainly from the open-source community and the Fediverse. This inevitably influences which issues we prioritize.
But the representatives of this community, who joined the clinic, want above all to bring more users onto Mobilizon.
So we’re going to reach out to people who aren’t familiar with nor interested in open-source (if there are ;)

What if finding local activities was easier?
"Oh no, it was yesterday"
"I wasn't aware"
Workshops, walks, concerts, local meeting, sports... Information is scattered across different platforms, and one has to follow several information channel.
Mobilizon aims to make discovering and organizing events easier, without depending on a centralized for profit company.
This alternative can only become useful if it grows.
To help us making it happen, donate monthly: https://mobilizon.org/support_en

Regular donation for an everlasting project!
Free software often bloom thanks to goodwill.
But to last and become a valid alternative, means are need to develop, maintain, fix bugs, improve usability and support users.
Mobilizon received valuable support from NLnet, but that funding was temporary. We need a more sustainable source of income.
Even a modest monthly donation helps us plan for the long term.

The paradox of local events:
On one hand, local organisms spend precious time keeping up on social media.
On the other hand, individuals scroll for hours although it feels like a waste of time.
What if we could meetup without being manipulated by algorithms? By changing the system, we could free up a lot of time for more interesting activities.
Mobilizon wants to help making this change happen.
To move forward, we need regular donations.

Why Mobilizon exists?
Mobilizon was born in 2019 from a simple idea: events shouldn’t depend on Facebook to happen.
In 2026, the problem remains: to discover activities nearby, many people still have to rely on platforms owned by big tech companies.
We want to do things differently. But building a real alternative takes resources, and we need your help to make it happen.

Version 5.2.5 is coming! It includes backend and frontend component upgrade and help for regression testing is much welcome.
In spite of many hours of testing, our small team doesn't cover all the configurations and all the use cases.
If you're willing to give a hand, please have a look at this forum post for more details: https://framacolibri.org/t/besoin-daide-pour-les-tests-de-la-nouvelle-version/32866

@nprofile…nptm if you have a lemmy account, why not try? :) ActivityPub usually results in outcome, event if the projects are unknown to each other.

Let's document interactions between Mobilizon and other fediverse softwares. Documentation is up to date with Mastodon and Gancio (https://docs.mobilizon.org/6.%20Fediverse/1.protocol/) but inputs regarding Peertube and Pixelfed are missing (at least). If you use Mobilizon together with Peertube or Pixelfed or any fediverse other software, we're very interested in your experience. #fediverse

What is Mobilizon? It’s an alternative to Facebook groups and events, as well as Meetup.
Today’s news is that we’re releasing the brand-new version, 5.2.4 (https://
framagit.org/kaihuri/mobilizon/-/releases/5.2.4).
I invite you to check it out and (re)discover Mobilizon.
For example, you can use https://
mobilizon.fr, the Framasoft instance, for activist events, or
https://
keskonfai.fr, the Kaihuri instance, for any events in France.
