#pkgsrc has fixed brotli, nodejs, nodejs22 and nodejs24 packages in both HEAD and 2026Q3. Please update :)
Binary package repositories will take a day or two to catch up, you may want to rebuild from source.

Considering taking the old Samsung Chromebook Pro, installing UEFI firmware on it and then either Linux or NetBSD.
Downsides: no way back (the device is AUE, so I cannot get a new recovery firmware), thus the device might be bricked. Also, I would need to open the device to remove the write protect screw.
Should I?

"Is the point of life merely to stockpile accomplishments? If that is what Silicon Valley believes, no wonder all the billionaires seem so unhappy all the time! They have traded experience for accomplishment, and cheated themselves out of their own lives in the process. They keep chasing more money and more power, because they think that will finally be enough — but as long as they do not experience things themselves, nothing will ever be enough."

TIL about https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronan_Point, an absolutely incredible case of bad construction. One picture says more than a thousand words.
But also:
During demolition, "the extent of the defects found shocked even some of the activists, including Webb himself. It was discovered that most of the mechanical connections between floor slabs and flank walls had not been attached properly during construction. Significant corner-cutting had also been undertaken during the construction, with bolts often missing. Holes that should have been filled with concrete were found stuffed with rubbish and newspaper. On the lower floors, cracks were found in the concrete where it had been point-loaded, and it was alleged that the extra pressure on those points during a high wind (such as during the Great Storm of 1987, barely a year after the demolition) would soon have led to building collapse."

The most unhinged opinion I keep hearing from coffee snobs is that "Italian espresso is just not very good". What the hell are you talking about?? Have you had a good Italian espresso?
The best espresso I had in my life was in this small village in the Alps, near Udine. The place seemed mostly deserted, but there was a cafe in the village center, serving what I later learned was a roast called "Nonplusultra" by Caffè Dersut. It was unexpectedly life changing. So good.

Trying to write a micro-SD card for a Raspberry Pi 4. I tried several times to dd a new image, but I still see the old data. Am I losing my mind?
Or is this some sort of hardware write protection on a dying card? There is no RO/RW slider on a micro-SD.
