"Chatbots are turning on the flattery, patience, and support. Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman said the “cool thing” about the company’s AI personal assistant is that it doesn’t “judge you for asking a stupid question.” It exhibits “kindness and empathy.” Here’s the rub: We need people to judge us. We need people to call us out for making stupid statements. Friction and conflict are key to developing resilience and learning how to function in society."

The amount of "friends" who left after I told them I wouldn't build their "startup idea" for free, is big.
The proliferation of vibe coding tools will reduce their occurrence in the future ever further. What won't change is their total amount of success stories: zero.

what a thread.
Reminds me of Argentina, 1966: "In the following months hundreds of professors were fired, resigned their positions or abandoned the country."
To be clear: Argentina _never_ recovered from this event. What's going on in the USA is reaching this point. It is an extinction-level event, indeed.

I've just installed tmux-resurrect and I wonder how could I live without it for the past 15 years. I'm in tears.

1976: the Argentine military junta bans the book "La Cuba Electrolítica" ("The Electrolytic Tank") because the title features the word "Cuba".
2025: DOGE bans networking security documents featuring the word "privilege".

My 34 milliseconds of fame: a picture with yours truly by Associated Press taken inside the NYC Apple Store on April 3rd, 2010 as I was buying two 1st gen iPads made the home page of various online outlets, including Le Figaro.
It's archived on the @npub1umd…wfr7 and you can still see it there (6th picture in the carousel)
It made me chuckle. What a time to be alive.
