Cheers everyone ☕
@npub152w…3mn8 is inviting us all to have a drink for today's #TuneTuesday with the theme:

Songs that have beverages, drinks, drinking in them
All genres and interpretation of the theme welcome 🎶

Recent activity shows as the fediverse ages many servers will continue without issues, however, some have been abandoned by their admins, but not unplugged.
Everyday users shouldn't be burdened with admin or mod issues, but maybe it's good to keep a casual eye on the health of your server by doing any of the following occasionally:
Check the admin is active on the system
Check the server gets software updates
Check your local server timeline to see what content is posted, what's permitted on the server, if there's content that should be moderated but isn't
If your server passes the health check, great!
If it raises doubts consider investigating more 🙏

Nicely explained. :) Knut rhymes with boot, I think.

He's getting big fast! 😻
Can I ask a daft question? How is Knut pronounced?
Nut, K-nut or something else? I'm thinking not Knewt, as that would be Knüt, wouldn't it?

Today 4th January is World Braille Day
Braille is often thought of as being outdated & not used because there's technology instead, however, I personally know people who still use it.
They use tech, but there's cases where braille gives autonomy & confidence faster & easier than with tech.
Last year Spain made it mandatory for accessible labels on products, braille and/or QR codes, especially on products where it's needed for safety, integrity & quality of life.

Most of you know, but just in case
The fedi, like anywhere on the internet, has scammers
Scammers incite panic by mentioning account deletion or freezing
On Mastodon, the server owner, server admin & server moderator accounts have profile badges & are the only accounts who can delete, limit or freeze your account completely
External admins & mods can only restrict or block accounts from their own server, they cannot system-wide nuke accounts
No-one will ask for your password, nor insist you transfer your account to an email address they specify
If in doubt talk to your server admin or mod team 🙏

2025-11-11 09:02:33 UTC

It's common knowledge the fedi is full of geeks who love their Linux, but that's only one facet of the fedi.
It's also full of:
Lovers of mushrooms & insects
Musicians & fans who know all the deepest cuts of the music
People who love linking music to a theme, no matter how abstract
Artists, craftspeople, photographers
Lovers of random facts
Sharers of whatever is in their garden, park or green space
Furries & their conventions
Shares of photos of windows, doors, sea, flowers
Mini painters & table top role players
Board game players
The list goes on, if you want it, it's here, or you can create it ;)
¡Viva the fediverse!

2025-09-25 06:27:57 UTC

Today is #MusiciansDay 🎉
Self- promotion is much easier in a crowd! 🎵
If you have a musical project, solo, part of a band, of any music genre now is the time to sing it from the rafters with the #MusiciansDay hashtag
If you're a music fan, you're bound to find something interesting in the hashtag feed with band websites and links to their favourite or new tracks 🎧

2025-09-01 12:31:51 UTC

Oh my! The scam wave has changed to trying to entice people to click on links by offering a monetary scheme for making posts, they just need to verify your account to set it up.
You probably already know the fedi does not have money for this type of thing, but just in case:
Always check what sort of account you are dealing with, and what they are offering before you click on any links.
There is no monetary scheme for posting on the fediverse.
And if something looks too good to be true, it usually is a scam.

2025-08-12 04:01:43 UTC

Wishing you all a happy and colourful #TuneTuesday with today's theme from @npub1ggn…zzw6
#PaletteMusic songs with colour/s in the title, lyrics or tone 🎶

2025-07-31 11:01:50 UTC

A tip to minimise the impact of spam & scam accounts for Mastodon users:
Log in to your Mastodon account from a browser, go to notifications, hit the up/down arrows top right & go through the filter settings & save changes.
Key points to consider using filter or ignore on:
new accounts - most scam accounts are new - it will limit new users interacting with you, prioritise as *you* see fit
Unsolicited private mentions
Moderated accounts
Do what works for you, your account, preferences & with your server. This is not a definitive guide, just some info that might be useful
If you know this, apologies for the repetition 🙏

Are you hungry?
Because today's #TuneTuesday theme is #NomNomNomNom by @npub1dn5…ecu5 who requests we share songs that make us think about or crave delicious food.
Thank you everyone for joining in and for those who add weekly themes to the TT tin 🎵
Edit: hashtag altered to 4 x Nom as only 3 meant we would be flooding a normal food hashtag 😅

2025-07-12 15:36:15 UTC

Looks like the "Verify your fedi account" scam is gaining pace, & evolving to look more real.
Your server admin will not ask you to click a link to verify your account. And no other admin from any other server will either, even if they do look like they could be part of the main Mastodon team. It's a scam.
Please report any post or DM that urges you to click any link to verify your account.
If you've any doubts about your account, now or on any other day, contact your server admin or mod team.

#HotHotHot - songs with hot in the title ♨️

Thank you for playing and for your themes 🎶

2025-03-14 10:34:28 UTC

Maybe the coolest thing on the fediverse is how people who love doing something that they thought only they liked can find others who enjoy it too. 🤓
You like moss, we have a hashtag for you, & photos 🔎
You like windows, we do too, here is a hashtag & we share photos weekly on Fridays 🪟
I thought maybe sharing doors was going to far, but I should never have doubted the fediverse. 😅
You want doors? We get excited about doors too, there is already a hashtag, & here are some doors for good measure 🚪
Geeking out is always good for the soul, but it's even better with company ☺️

2025-03-11 06:03:40 UTC

Happy Tuesday 🎶
Are you gonna #JumpToTheBeat for today's #TuneTuesday ?
Share your choice of song, or album, that mentions jumping🦘
On the 7th of March TT had its second birthday 🎉 Thank you everyone for joining in with your music and for adding your theme ideas to the tin.

Mastodon admins & mods often deal with spam from their mobiles. Keeping the network spam-free even though the admin/mod is not on their computer but are actually shopping, traveling etc..
The last Mastodon software update v4.3.4 has a bug that severely limits how well the moderation module can be seen on a mobile.
The way to communicate this to the Mastodon devs is by creating a GitHub ticket & if there is enough upvotes the devs will prioritize the ticket & hopefully fix the issue 🙏
If you've a GitHub account please read & consider upvoting the ticket below.
Boosts for reach & awareness appreciated🙏

#FlowerPowerMusic Songs or albums about flowers
Thank you everyone for not tagging me in your TuneTuesday posts lasts week, it was so much easier to manage. 🎉
Please continue not tagging me, I'll find your posts using the hashtags. 🙏

2025-01-27 13:55:19 UTC

I'm not keeping up well on here today, but I did get to smack some spam. One has to be fast to hit the stuff into orbit before @npub106f…mh4q or @npub1u0z…6s43 ;)
As there are so many new people joining us on the fediverse, if you see spam, please report it and your moderation team will deal with it :)
Please don't click on any of the spam links, also, if you see shortened URL links the chances are that you might get an unwanted surprise.
Mastodon encourages the use of un-shortened links by making any web link take up a max of only 21 characters in a toot text, no matter how long it actually is.

Looks and sees there is no #ThursdayFiveList theme for today.
To keep Neurothing's wonderful project alive I propose #TheLight any songs or albums (if you prefer) about the light in any creative form
I have not tagged Neurothing in order not to flood his notifications when he returns :)
Have fun 🎵

Thank you [@The_KamikaZEN](https://metalhead.club/@The_KamikaZEN ) for the theme 🎶
I love doing this with everyone, but my notifications go crazy each Tuesday, please help by not tagging me in your TuneTuesday posts. 🙏 I will find the posts via the hashtags. Thank you for understanding and joining in with the fun ☺️

Hi! I don't have an official list, but I do try and keep a list of metal bands that are active on the fediverse on my website.
https://dasmetalkitty.neocities.org
I try and find bands and musicians, on any server, when I can. It is surprising where a metal band sometimes ends up on the fedi ;)

2025-01-07 11:23:49 UTC

Random task at work that I thought you might find interesting. Translating the phrase:
"Vísteme despacio que tengo prisa."
Into its English form:
"More haste, less speed."
When you do something too quickly that it actually slows you down.
If there is anything similar in your own language/s feel free to share :)

Not everyone finds the festive easy,
for anyone looking for online company & conversation over this time you can use the hashtags
# JoinIn & # SitTogether
Also, these musical hashtags on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays will continue as normal & you are welcome to follow & join in, no matter your music taste:
# TuneTuesday
# MusicWomenWednesday
# ThursdayFiveList
En castellano, creo que hay los hashtags # Únete y # ApoyoMutuo
Y también una invitación a jugar algo por Discord:

I'm in the process of setting up a fedidevs starter pack for metal bands and artists, with some metal adjacent bands, that are active on the fedi, this means they have posted something recently ;)
Not all accounts are easy to find and add, so this list will grow...
You can find the starter pack here:

#FollowerPower
This is a huge ask, but the fedi has managed this type of thing before 🙏
Does anyone have information on companies that sell solar panels in Europe that provide information about their complete supply chain to show they are ethically sourced from raw material to end product and are not exposed to forced labour?
This would include sources for:
Raw product
Polysilicon
Ingots
Cells
Modules
Thank you for your help and boosts
*I am not looking for any conversation on the topic, just help with ethical companies, please 🙏

Me saying I won't do AOTY the year for most of 2024 but I still have 50 albums, that I am aware of as I have notes or memory of them, that I am trying to brutally cut down to much less, or at least trying to put into some sort of order.
This does not include non-metal ones, that would just make everything even longer. *hides those notes under the sofa before anyone sees

2024-12-07 12:04:10 UTC

Calling all metalheads, no matter what server you're on, you're invited to participate in the end of year music events 🎉
# GroupMetalAOTY2024
BEFORE 1300 hours CET Sat 14th Dec:
Add your top 5 metal albums released in 2024
Details here:
https://metalhead.club/@Kitty/113589242431390653
# MetalheadClubAwards
Starting Sun 15th Dec:
@npub1dy5…ygcs will post a category daily for people to share their favourite music or artists etc.
More details or to suggest categories: Contact @npub1dy5…ygcs ☺️
Please spread the word so those who want yo join in, can 🙏
*Above hashtags written with a space in them to not spam the hashtag timelines 😉

2024-12-03 13:58:10 UTC

It's AOTY time, do you want to participate in a group Metal AOTY2024 list?
My proposal:
People can still do their own #AOTY stuff without any worries, this is just if you want your top 5 metal albums counted & added to a group list
Post your top 5 metal albums in a toot with the hashtag #GroupMetalAOTY2024
before 13 hours CET Sat14th Dec
I'll put the list here & my website afterwards
To make it as easy as possible:
Please DON'T tag me, I will find everything with the hashtag
Entries after the deadline won't be counted
I'll only count top 5 in toots, not videos or external links
I know it is early, but it's the only weekend I'm free🙏
Thank you

I got my first filtered notification
With the Mastodon upgrade 4.3.0 notifications from servers that have been limited by your admin/mod team can still reach you
The default setting is filtered, but you can change that to accept (no filter) or ignore (the notification doesn't reach you) if you prefer
In filtered mode you can delete without reading the post or mute, block or report the user. You can also read the post & accept it if you want
If you receive spam in filtered notifications it means your admin/mod team are aware this server is sending spam & it's totally okay to delete, mute or block the user without reporting it

Hello!

The music festival yesterday was amazing and the attention to detail of how they looked after everyone was so good. Something that really made me happy were the toilets.
There were two toilet blocks at the event. One set had two sections that were labelled for everyone. The other set had three sections and they were clearly labelled as, female, everyone, male.
I'd love to see this become the normal way of doing things 🙏

Three metalhead.club shirts are going to an @npub155y…rhzt gig shortly. 🎸
It's hot, it's sweaty, but watching your friend play live on stage is awesome! 😍
