Hmm 🤔 I wonder if it would make sense to get a Hettner AI server for 250€ a month and share with friends? Especially the new Chinese open weight models are pretty good.
The data stays in Europe and you don't pay Open AI or Antropic.

My employer is currently looking for a technical writer with electronics experience to help proofread and update/partially rewrite blog articles.
It would be around ~4 articles per week for 2000 USD a month (negotiable).
This would be a freelance position.
Just throwing it out there, maybe some moot could benefit from the extra money.
DM me for details.

I am looking for an open source self hostable solution for managing the "renting" of things like tools, bike etc. with Usermanagement so only approved users can "rent" things. A calender overview when which thing is available and tracking of maintenance, issues with parts etc..
Does this exist?

I am looking to commission someone who could create a painting template for my bakfiets cargo Long for the front basket for both sides. I like the idea of the wavy Trans flag. It doesn't need to be this exact pattern as on the image I slopped but the general style.
Very happy to pay and support human creativity but I would love to have a cost estimate upfront.

I guess a positive thing to share is just how quickly the #solar adoption has been in recent years.
The world now has 3 Terawatt of installed solar capacity. The first Terawatt took 68 years and was reached in 2022. Another Terawatt was added in the last 18 months!

Hello Fedi Bubble it's Friday morning and I have a day off. So I want to attempt travelling through 6 countries in a day and return by train. Startpoint is Aachen Hbf. Unfortunately the RE18 at 17:17 was cancelled and thus I won't make my connection from Liège to Luxemburg. I'm taking the S41 now, unfortunately skipping the Netherlands.

Fired up Firefox Klar Which for whatever reason doesn't have an ad blocker built in just to have a quick look.
This is the manufacturer page, it has ADs?!?! Why?
Sometimes there's more ads than useful content?!?! WTF? What does this tell your potential customers?
Also how do people live like this? I typically always have a blocker

It's honestly insane to think about the fact that the 0 degree component polarity in CAD libraries was changed because one person at an IPC Meeting claimed wrong facts and the committee then voted on it without fact checking.
And then the IPC released a new guidance that you should switch back to the old 0 degree orientation since the old definition was in place for slightly longer 🤦‍♀️ How about sticking to one thing for once?

Does someone know a bit about implementing a USB-C to USB-C hub? The USB2.0 Hub specification has self and bus powered devices. If the upstream port advertises more than 500mA can I then enable "self powered" mode? The spec is not clear on this.
Also wondering if I have to reset the Hub IC if the upstream port changes its advertised current.

Looking to get PCBs made in Europe? 🇪🇺
Here are some alternatives:
AISLER: 🇳🇱 Company, Boards are made in 🇩🇪 (apart from special orders), affordable prices but only offers simpler options, ideal for makers.
Beta Layout: 🇩🇪 Company, most PCB configurations are available with 🇩🇪 manufacturing. Somewhat higher cost, Free stencil with PCB order.
Eurocircuits: Manufactures in 🇭🇺 🇩🇪 , higher prices but also offer advanced options like micro via etc.
