I’m not on Bluesky, but between the apparent antisemitism and transphobia, it seems like a real shitstorm of a supposedly leftist “haven” (though it does perfectly encapsulate what leftist spaces have become over the past few years: throwing Jews under the bus because something something colonizers, and throwing trans people under the bus because something something gotta win elections).
I’ll pass, thanks.

My employer, Valo Health, has two open positions that highly interdisciplinary in its drug discovery mission: one of them would work directly with me and my team on the engineering side, and the other would collaborate with my team on the patient and epidemiological side.
Both feature wonderful teams supervised by wonderful people. Both are fully remote (US-only). Happy to answer questions 😊

Holy crap! I was only present in Claude and even then the information was partially incorrect.

It blows my mind how many new neural architectures we iterated through in the 2010s that did all sorts of cool stuff.
Then we hit Transformers, and just… stopped.

It requires some CI as well to rebuild the blog after each update/post, so it might just be better anyway if I self-host it.

This is actually great; I'm mainly looking for a new public-facing open source hub for my side projects. I have an internal Forgejo that I hammer the s&@% out of (CI and everything) but there are a few repos I wouldn't mind having public-facing, and I'd like to do that without opening up my entire internal Forgejo.
I had considered moving my Quarto blog from GitHub too, but from what you're saying it sounds like that's either something I should self-host, or leave on GitHub.

I’ve been wanting to move my primary public-facing code repos away from GitHub to Codeberg. Would recommend?

So
uh
#Bluey fans here might remember the episode “Faceytalk.”
For quite awhile, 5yo asked to do Faceytalk. I spent a good amount of time researching the apps in the ecosystem and found… nothing. Like, not even close.
(maybe I missed it; feel free to let me know)
So anyway. I, uh
I built one.
It’s not done yet—still can’t do anything with emojis or memojis or whatever they’re called—but it does video + voice chat and allows you to draw on your video feed.
All in a web browser ☺️

I might have failed at following the directions to the… *letter*.

I know there are much bigger fish to fry right now, but:
It’s so fucking grating when, every time we turn down some invitation from my parents (always at the last minute), the response is, verbatim and without fail: “Bummer.”
Not: “We’ll miss you! Have a great time!”
Not: “That sounds like fun! We’ll be thinking of you.”
And definitely not: “Yeah this is very last minute, so I understand. Have fun!”
Chances of making room for the next last-minute invite: DECAYING.

Thank you so much! Mostly I enjoy seeing how others configure their servers, so I know what I’m missing 😆

I’d be curious to see that script. I’m working on integrating the fail2ban traefik plugin but “generally bad behavior” beyond failed logins would be nice too.

This is awesome, thank you. Gonna read it in detail soon; I want to replace the simple server that currently streams my raspberry pi camera and keeps inexplicably locking up. Hopefully by designing it from the ground up, I can at least begin to understand how to debug it when things invariably go wrong.

Thank you for this; I’m excited for the series! I’ve started tinkering with HTTP servers in Python (to manage an outdoor wildlife camera!) because the included example tends to crash a lot, but I haven’t been able to figure out why. So I’m trying to build intuition but suffice to say most docs aren’t exactly intuitive.
Haven’t found the mistakes yet but I’ll keep looking ☺️
Happy holidays!

I’d love that confidence, because every time I have to step out of the VERY narrow confines of my current workflows I’m deadly afraid of trashing an entire repo.

It reads almost as if this came after a long discussion between you two over who her running mate should be, and with your help was able to make a decision.
