I was working on the Pokemon card tool at the time and couldn’t stop in the middle of that particular work or the auto eBay upload would have been broken until my quota reset 😅

I used to buy myself packs for the fun of seeing what I could get and this felt like an interesting way to scratch that itch without dropping $5 per 11 cards, and since I run an eBay store I wanted see if I could turn a profit on a modern bulk purchase.
It’s unlikely because there’s so much of them available to the market right now. But since I have my card listing tool I built it wouldn’t be much more effort than photoing the cards to get them into inventory.

One concern that popped into my head was the safety side of it, like what if someone sets up a high-value reward for a location and then mugs whoever shows up. If you’re into Bitcoin, you’re kind of advertising that you might be worth targeting.
That said, I really do like the idea. It sounds fun, and I’d honestly love to join a hunt or even run one myself. I guess this is just the cynical part of my brain going, “wait a second…”

2026-01-15 21:29:10 UTC

I keep seeing a lot of anti-AI and anti-crypto arguments that hinge on the idea that water is being “used up.” Data centers get described as if they’re consuming water the way a fire consumes wood, like it’s being permanently removed from the world.
Maybe I’m missing something, but that framing feels strange to me. In most cases the water is being used for cooling, it absorbs heat, some of it evaporates, and it goes back into the broader water cycle. It isn’t disappearing. It’s changing state and location for a while.
That’s not what people seem to be reacting to. What I don’t understand is why “water use” gets talked about as if it means water is being destroyed or permanently removed from the system. Cooling water changes temperature, sometimes changes phase, moves around, then re-enters the same cycle it’s always been in. So why is this the thing that my kids ask about? 🙃

Yeah, the YouTube channel is entirely yo-yo centric, it’s all tutorials, my old freestyles, practice sessions (long form and highlight reels of them).
I don’t think I have any reviews up anymore, but I used to have 20 or so. I don’t know if I’d put them back up, but it’s basically the exact same audience I just I don’t really use the discord because I don’t make myself work on the YouTube as much as I should. I think it makes more sense to connect it to this nostr project because it gives users and I a second location to talk about the project without being inside the project. I don’t know if that makes sense, but that’s kind of what I was thinking.

I never understood why they broke so easily. Getting close to a rough version 0.1 of yoyostr. Initial release will focus on teaching. I will curate tutorial videos into difficulty levels. Users will be able to post a video of them doing the trick, after enough community members confirm the video is of the trick then the user will receive a badge for that trick. If they get all the badges for a skill level they’ll get that skill level badge. If you have a badge you asserting someone’s done a trick right will have more weight. Once this is working I will add more community/forum functionality.

Finished reading The Price of Tomorrow, now on to The Big Print.

2025-11-20 03:42:47 UTC

Today with Gemini 3 (Googles AI) I was able to get the image warping/homography working perfectly. Then the square cropping working perfectly. And then we ran into an issue with OCR (optical character recognition) to grab the names off cards so their processed pictures could be moved into folders. Luckily there’s another way to accomplish this, download pictures and json data for all the sets and compare my photos to them to identify the card and get the name that way. So I’m currently waiting for the library of card data to download and then we’ll move forward with automating identification. Once that’s all working I’ll begin working on having a script use all this organized data to create eBay drafts automatically (I hear it’s possible) and if not that, a csv list to import the data manually but still make all the drafts at once.

2025-11-19 19:37:48 UTC

Just finished reading The Price of Tomorrow by @nprofile…wc22. Very good book, and some of it a time capsule from when it was written. 😊

2025-11-19 03:46:56 UTC

Gemini 3 was able to come up with a python script after a few back and forths of the console output/image outputs that could identify the rectangle of a Pokemon card and use it to straighten the image how I wanted. There’s still a small bug to fix but progress was made finally.

2025-11-18 19:30:10 UTC

My new ai benchmark is “can it write a script that warps a photo of a Pokemon card to be flat”.
