and as far as I know Graphene offers extremely comprehensive *security* features including idle reboot for bringing phones to BFU, memory hardening (several types), and exploit protection. These are all security improvements that greatly aid in effectively protecting privacy.
As a matter of fact, and exactly as you mention, you cannot exactly have good privacy guarantees without a comprehensive security baseline, which as you also mention, other distros do not have. LineageOS has many privacy protections but they don't incorporate the aforementioned GrapheneOS security features and therefore this weakens their privacy offer.
I don't know, I don't really see where Tuta egregiously mischaracterised Graphene but admittedly I am also not that well versed in the technical improvements of Graphene over AOSP at a code level (I can understand them conceptually, though).

in what way did they mislead about Graphene? They mention it's highly secure, did I miss something?

Isn't Delta Chat just an email client? E-mail is super leaky and unsafe in terms of metadata especially, much worse than Signal.

What? The ultra safe, mega secure, highly private and totally encrypted chat app is not actually that private?
Damn.
If only someone would have anticipated this https://ulveon.net/p/2025-05-25-effective-security-beyond-encryption/
>Signal works over the internet, and the internet requires IP (internet protocol) addresses in order to figure out where a message should go. But sending messages over the internet does not require phone numbers; that’s a requirement when using SMS or cellular calls or mobile data, but not for using the internet. And yet, the “privacy-protecting” Signal app requires you to use a phone number to send and receive messages…
>What that leaves us with is a single service that is still a work in progress: SimpleX. It asks for no global identifiers like phone numbers or email addresses. It at least tries, unlike Signal, to make sure that it doesn’t know who’s talking to who.

Anubis is extremely easy to bypass, you just have to change the User-Agent to not contain Mozilla, please get proper bot protection.

This post talks briefly about other alternatives. Try Berghain, Balooproxy, or go-away.

e-bikes are amazing, the real problem is reckless cyclists illegally modifying their bikes to go much faster than they're supposed to. But again, this is on the bike owners, not the bike itself.

Signal has great encryption but is not at all a safe application for all threat models. Threema is much better due to, among other things, not requiring a phone number to use.
