Happy Halloween to all!!!

Has anyone had the issue with OpenAudible where it says that the account has been throttled from downloading too many things? I've been using this happily for years, and have never come across this. I know Libation was having an issue which was fixed. So maybe it's just a matter of time. Hopefully OpenAudible does fix this as well.
Thing is. I can still very contentedly download Audible books from the web. So all hope isn't lost. LOL.

I a nearly finished with So You Want to be a Wizard by Diane Duane. I forgot how good these books are.

I have a BT Speak question. It's only my first this week. Haha. But is there a way when working in the Blazie editor to get proper page numbers? I know we used to be able to do this with pages formatted for braille with the old Braille 'n Speak. I'm working on a document ad I'm curious to know how long it is. Thanks in advance if someone does have an answer. Or even if page numbers ends up becoming a thing in a future update.

Has anyone read this series?
Malice
By:
John Gwynne
Narrated by:
Damian Lynch
Series:
The Faithful and the Fallen ,
Book 1
The first book in acclaimed epic fantasy author John Gwynne's Faithful and Fallen series, Malice is a tale of blind greed, ambition, and betrayal set in
a world where ancient monsters are reawakening -- and a war to end all wars is about to begin.
The world is broken. . .and it can never be made whole again.
Corban wants nothing more than to be a warrior under King Brenin's rule -- to protect and serve. But that day will come all too soon. And the price he
pays will be in blood.
Evnis has sacrificed -- too much it seems. But what he wants -- the power to rule -- will soon be in his grasp. And nothing will stop him once he has started
on his path.
Veradis is the newest member of the warband for the High Prince, Nathair. He is one of the most skilled swordsman to come out of his homeland, yet he is
always under the shadow of his older brother.
Nathair has ideas -- and a lot of plans. Many of them don't involve his father, the High King Aquilus. Nor does he agree with his father's idea to summon
his fellow kings to council.
The Banished Lands has a violent past where armies of men and giants clashed in battle, the earth running dark with their heartsblood. Now, the stones
weep red and giant wyrms stir, and those who can still read the signs see a danger far worse than all that has come before. . .

My thought for today. Instead of asking or making a statement wondering why someone just learned about something you have known for years. How about be more supportive and say something about how they learned about said thing is awesome. Being encouraging can go a long way.

I have a couple BTSpeak questions. How fast can we type in braille on the device? Like with my Orbit I feel it lags, and I can't type as quickly as I can on the brailler. Also, When I translate from text to braille Can I do the reverse? Also, is there a way I can import a Podcast file from somewhere else to the device?

He intends to herd a huge flock of bronze turkeysall the way from his home in eastern Missouri to the boomtown of Denver, where they'll fetch a mighty price. Sleeping to Daughter of the Blood by Anne Bishop gives me cool dreams. Maybe I can't remember them in the morning, but it could be worse. I'm so tempted to read the trilogy again. I want to read the whole series, but Book-A.D.D. I was talking to Zara the other day about the series when we were on the phone. She told me the last three books in the series aren't as good. But I'm finding that happens a lot. That's one reason I've not finished Sword of Truth.

Rhapsody , By Elizabeth Haydon

This is one of my current reads.
The Silver Ladies Do Lunch (Silver Ladies, #1), by Judy Leigh
When Lin, Josie and Minnie left Miss Hamilton’s class at Middleton Ferris County Primary School, sixty years ago, they could only dream about what the future had in store for them. The one thing they knew for certain was that their friendship would thrive. Years later and life hasn’t always been kind. Josie is still mourning the loss of her beloved husband Harry a year after his sudden demise. Lin is hoping to celebrate her fiftieth wedding anniversary with husband Neil, but he’s suddenly keeping secrets and telling her lies, so she’s suspecting the worst And as for Minnie, well she loves her life in Oxford academia, but with no family to call her own, she sometimes wonders if the sacrifices were all worthwhile. So, when the ninety-year-old Miss Hamilton – or Cecily as she lets them call her now – glides gracefully back into their lives on her glamorous purple mobility scooter, the ladies are in need of inspiration and fun. And over their regular lunches, the friends start to dream of leaving the past in the past and embracing the future, because there’s nothing you can’t achieve with good friends at your side. Judy Leigh is back with the perfect blend of fun and friendship, capers and caring.

I was looking up The Orbit Speak verses the BTSpeak and I discovered a podcast called Double Tap. I don't know the guys who run it. But they are quite funny so far. If I were to get one I'd probably get the BTSpeak because it seems to do more, and have more frequent updates. That, and I'd had okay experiences with at least the Orbit Reader and cell issues. People say the non-braille Orbit products are better. But if I'm going to spend money on something I think I'd rather spend it on something that's updated at least every month. Even if it means a maintenance contract.

The Calamity Club
A Novel
By
Kathryn Stockett
theirs—and the power of friendship to change everything.
Oxford, Mississippi, 1933.
Abandoned by her mother one Christmas Eve, eleven-year-old Meg Lefleur has learned the hard way to rely on no one. Now one of the unadoptable "big girls" at the Lafayette County Orphan Asylum, she fights each day to keep her spirit unbowed.
Birdie Calhoun, unmarried and outspoken, has come to Oxford to ask her socialite sister to help the struggling family she’s left behind. But as the Depression tightens its grip, Birdie discovers her sister’s seemingly charmed life is a tapestry of lies.
Then, Birdie encounters Charlie, a woman running low on luck with little left to lose. When their fates—and Meg’s—converge, Charlie comes up with an audacious plan for them to take control of their lives. But in a place and time where hypocrisy is rife and women’s freedom is fragile, even the smallest act of defiance can have dangerous consequences.
The Calamity Club will make you laugh, cry, and cheer—an epic testament to underestimated women who know that calamity can be the spark of new beginnings. This is Kathryn Stockett at her most confident, heartfelt, and hilarious—the triumphant return of one of the most beloved storytellers of our time.

@nprofile…p25k They are very LOTR-esk. Most if not all their songs are about LOTR> There's another band called Moongates Guardian from Russia who do the same thing. Though their vocals are more Death Metal than Black Metal. Both bands are right up my musical alley. I love that you at least gave the instrumental a chance.

I've just started Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas.
I'm half way tempted to go back to The Valdemar series by Mercedes Lackey. But I need to read new things.
Everyone feel free to suggest away. I'm not at all in the mood for books where people are in hospitals for a long time. Or people who end up suffering heart attacks. That's why I'm kinda thinking Fantasy.
A friend did suggest Space Team by Barry J. Hutchison. "but I'm not sure if that's super Science oriented. I like Sci-Fi some. But I get confused with a lot of the Science. Lol.

I don't know what's more frustrating. The drinkers finding an excuse to get yet another drink. And mention. "Oh, it's time for another one," on social media. Or those who smoke weed who are all. "420. 420. 420. 420. 420. I'm not at all opposed to either drinking or smoking weed in responsible manners. But do people have to mention it all the time? And every single time they choose to partake? I had a couple drinks last night at the concert which I very much enjoyed. Jameson and ginger ale if anyone's curious. But i never feel the need to jump on social media and be all. "Yep. It's time for another drink." Or if I'm going to smoke a little weed. That's between me and the people I do it with.

What I can gather from the description it looks like it could be funny.
The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion: Vol. 1
By:
Beth Brower
“I’ve arrived in London without incident. There are few triumphs in my recent life, but I count this as one. My existence of the last three years has been
nothing but incident.”
The Year is 1883 and Emma M. Lion has returned to her London neighborhood of St. Crispian’s. But Emma’s plans for a charmed and studious life are sabotaged
by her eccentric Cousin Archibald, her formidable Aunt Eugenia, and the slightly odd denizens of St. Crispian’s.
Emma M. Lion offers up her Unselected Journals, however self-incriminating they may be. Armed with wit and a sideways amusement, Emma documents the curious
realities of her life at Lapis Lazuli House.
Audiences have compared Beth Brower's writing to Jane Austen, Oscar Wilde, P.G. Wodehouse, and L. M. Montgomery.

Honeysuckle
by Bar Fridman-Tell
The Bear and the Nightingale meets Weyward in this enchanting, deeply compelling debut about love and power, autonomy and consent.
Named a Best Book of March 2026 by Barnes & Noble and Apple.
Once upon a time, on the edge between meadow and forest, there was a lonely child with only his older sister for company. In exchange for being left in peace, his sister made him a playmate—Daye, a girl woven from flowers and words. And for the first time, this boy, Rory, had a friend.
Rory couldn’t be happier, until he learns that Daye is a short-lived creature. At the end of each season, she must be woven back together or fall gruesomely apart. And every time Daye falls apart might be her last.
As Rory and Daye grow older and the line between friendship and romance begins to blur, Rory becomes desperate to break this cycle of bloom and decay. But the farther Rory pushes his research and experiments to lengthen Daye’s existence, the more Daye begins to wonder just how much control she really has over her own life.
As a loose reimagining of the story of Blodeuwedd from Welsh mythology, Honeysuckle is an entrancing, inventive, and unsettling debut.

Let's maybe try something a bit different here. I do this on FB. I've been seeing a lot of anger and over all crabbiness on Mastodon. How about we all try to think of 3 minimum positive things per day.
Here are mine.
Breakfast was awesome.
Having reliable every day people to check in with who make me happy.
My radio show was all kinds of fun today.
The sun has been out more frequently lately.
Audible sales.
Getting to see our best friends last week. Double dates are fun.
All the new books on BARD. I'm sure there's something for everyone.
Music. because no matter what we're going through. Some kind of song will help us feel better.
Jokes. Because we all need to laugh more. Even if it's for a second or two.

@nprofile…p25k I wish it read the messages as they came in and went out. I also wish we could give people nicknames. Like I wish mine could say. "Gina," and not what my username is. But other than that I'm happy with it. It's super cool for as new as it is.

@nprofile…p25k @nprofile…hm66 I find bigger groups frustrating. While there's more to talk about in some cases. Bigger groups are way more difficult to keep up. I'm much more for smaller gatherings where everyone can get a word in edgewise.

@nprofile…p25k @nprofile…hm66 It can be all kinds of fun. Especially if chatting with a ton of people in huge groups is overwhelming. Talk about raining on people's parade.

I might as well just keep my thrive status as. "Reading." LOL.

Eragon
Inheritance, Book 1
By:
Christopher Paolini
When fifteen-year-old Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy. But when the stone brings
a dragon hatchling, Eragon soon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself.
Overnight his simple life is shattered, and, gifted with only an ancient sword, a loyal dragon, and sage advice from an old storyteller, Eragon is soon
swept into a dangerous tapestry of magic, glory, and power. Now his choices could save—or destroy—the Empire.

@nprofile…p25k I do talk about the bad stuff in the world. Just not on social media.

2026-02-12 17:03:35 UTC

Wow. I look at my feed and everyone's conplaining. My only thought is. Is life that bad?
Let's think of the positives. We're all alive and breatheing. We've all got food on our tables. And we've all got at least one person who cares about us.

If I were to pre-order the Clicks Power keyboard is there the chance that they wouldn't get enough in pre-orders and I wouldn't get my product? Bob did have a look at the keyboard, and he said it does look pretty cool. I just don't want to make a gamble. But if I do the pre-order for $79 that isn't as bad as if I did the $139. And if for some reason the product didn't come out would I get my money back?

@nprofile…p25k How do you change the voice? I've not gotten that far yet.

2026-01-27 19:29:02 UTC

I just got into the early adopter program for the Amazon Echo. I didn't think the first generation we've got in the basement would be able to handle that. So far I think the voice is flat sounding as far as levels. I also think she's unnecessarily cheerful. If this is as slow on the 3rd and 4th generation devices I'm going to go back to the normal Alexa.

does anyone know how I can have the latest version of SPL with the latest version of Brian's JAWS scripts for the program not read the time at the beginning of each track? Thanks if anyone does have an answer. This wasn't a thing before I updated.

@nprofile…p25k It's not. It's just in the Thrillers Section I think. But it's still annoying. They don't always categorize things how they should. I've seen Romances in Fiction. And even something more Fantasy oriented in Romance.

@nprofile…p25k I mean. I guess. But I didn't categorize books like that. I just read them. I'd have put that in the kids section of the sale. Not the Thrillers section.

2026-01-21 20:31:32 UTC

I had to giggle. I was looking at the most recent Audible sale. It's a buy one get one free. I saw Bunnicula in the Thrillers section. Granted. I love that book so much. But it's not a Thriller. It's a kids book.

Is there a way with the most recent version of JAWS 2026 where I can have Windows Alt C not bring up a manage call dialog? I don't have Teams. And Skype isn't a thing any more. Thanks in advance if anyone has an answer. I know it can be done. I just forgot how to do it.

Everyone! Guess what!!!
Archmage's Ire
The Wandering Inn, Book 18
BY
pirateaba
NARRATED BY
Erin Bennett
Coming Mar 31, 2026
The greatest [Mage] of Izril has not been seen in eight years.
Yet, like the King of Destruction, it is time to awaken. However, the Archmage of Izril is not quite asleep, and not quite awake. Is she trapped, or is
there more going on? No one knows, for not a single person who has gone to see her has ever returned.
Yet the Wind Runner of Reizmelt is drawn to adventures and magic like bees to blue fruit juice. With her new friend, Fierre, Ryoka Griffin is about to
do a Courier's task, and magic is rising across the world.
From Wistram to Rhir, great [Mages] are awakening or on the rise. At the same time, Klbkch and Anand have returned to the Hivelands of the Antinium to
see other Hives so unlike Liscor's.
Book eighteen of The Wandering Inn is filled with magic, strange [Druids], running, and, of course, white Gnolls.

So, people have a lot of frustrations with AI. I'm here to say I had a good experience. I had gotten a Protoarc Bluetooth keyboard per the suggestion of one of my followers. It came today. I wasn't sure which buttons to press to pair it since some Bluetooth keyboards are different. I asked Be My AI for exact instructions. And it gave them to me. It seems that if i want I can also pair the keyboard to the computer as well. But that will be something to play with over the weekend.
And because I'm sure people might want a link.
