This one should be spoonfed to every single politician anywhere AI data centers are being attempted established.

But given this model, we get very rich chatbot hosters with a user base which will grow till it reaches 100%. For the whole system, it's a drain, but for the chatbot makers, it's a win.
Edit: This of course doesn't change the point you're making. The point I was trying to make, is that “nobody” cares about the system as a whole, especially not the chatbot brigade, who view externalities as always somebody else's problem.

Mao, mine smakslaukar: Eg liker sjølvstendig.no, medan frittstående.no vert vel tørt og blodfattig.

Eg klarer gjera sosiale bommertar dei fleste stader, og Mastodon er ikkje noko unnatak. :)

I find “I just want to post in piece” a slightly absurd position in general. Sure, if you just post for your followers or quiet public (in Mastodon terms), I get it. But, if you use tags, then it's the same logic as with commercials: I demand talking to you, but don't you dare talk back!

I searched for a Gemini browser extension, and, how cool, it was official from Google! Really nice, so I installed it, but now all is utterly broken?! ;)

Then conceptually more similar to entur.no than both libraries and Apple's app store.

So... a gatekeeper which produces nothing and everybody would have to pay to reach their audience, then? Sounds familiar, somehow.

@npub19rt…adh9 feature I didn't know I needed: Explicit key binding to scroll page up and down. Solves real problems with overly fancy web pages. 👍

I don't know that much about US politics, but I have this idea that if the senior Democrats were actually opposed to corporate capture and fascist policies, they might have, I don't know, voted against it?

A repeated pattern of technologies is that it's irrelevant how great the cost is, and how small the benefit is, as long as the proponents manage to offload the costs to somebody else than those reaping the benefits. The ongoing climate collapse being the obvious go-to example...
