I’ll swap you the video for this podcast. Amazed that I remember this from 9 years ago!

I can’t remember where but I heard a really good podcast about this and how we actually “see the future” because our brains are too slow to show us the present so they “make up” what we are seeing now before they have seen it.
This makes being a baseball batter theoretically impossible because when you swing the bat your eyes haven’t seen the ball in flight yet.

I should probably close the blinds I have. But I like the sunlight and seeing the birds.

My new garden office is like this. It’s mostly glass-fronted and mostly facing south-east. Even now in mid-spring it’s been getting to 24/26c on a sunny day!! 😥

Hah. An Awesome Log. That’s funny. 🤣

Yes you should! I have both and “Awesome log” of nice things people have said and an “Achievement Log” of things I have done with metrics showing their impact if possible.
Both have become very important to me.
And your talk is excellent. New and good ideas. You’re comfortable being yourself on stage. It’s fun. The slides are simple and helpful.
Top notch work! 👏👏👏
(I note I’m only half way through it! Don’t ask me questions!!!)

Oh. I’ve not noticed the crashing but that’s what I see.
It does seem to be a new problem and it does seem to be when Ivory starts. Perhaps that is after a silent crash? I’ll keep an eye out for it.

2025-04-13 17:05:50 UTC

@npub1lyn…ve6v Ivory on MacOS (v2.3.3) keeps resetting me to a single huge column. I usually have it on 3 columns. Is this a known issue?

The Nexus 7 was the BEST tablet. But mine also died in a random unrecoverable way. I tried so hard to resurrect it.

Definitely someone who walks lines in the chart though. I consider myself an ambivert and so many questions are “it depends” that I end up close to middle, but always INFJ somehow.

I could probably guess at your Myers Briggs type right now though!! 😉
If you were right then you don’t need to apologise. At the very least, wait and see if you still feel it tomorrow.

Oh yeah. They do that. Get rid of the number and just flash warning signs at you incessantly!! I’ve heard they keep some power in reserve for you just in case.
Phew though!!!

Thank you. You no longer owe me a pep talk! I appreciate it. And I know. But so often feel like I crumble quickly.

2024-12-29 18:37:36 UTC

Ugh. I feel like such a bad human. Amazing how quickly my values get thrown away in challenging circumstances.
Nothing serious: driving short distances; bad-for-you take-away food; giving in to kids’ demands.
But hungry, tired, overstimulated, and in-some-cases autistic kids is a potent combo.
I’ll get back to doing my best soon!!

My journey was the other way. I had to put aside my preferences for well structured data and code to go where the work I wanted to do was - with WordPress!!
I find data-in-HTML-comments a particularly strange choice!! 🤣

I think that also autosaves like this. It’s been a feature since WordPress 3.6 (Gutenberg arrived in 5.0)

2024-12-17 22:09:34 UTC

It might not be what you need, but the WordPress editor does auto-save to browser storage if you are offline.
What offline functionally are you looking for exactly?

i’m not quite sure what your question is.
Laravel was very strong on Vue a few years ago. But recently seems to be adopting more React as that is the more popular framework with front-end devs.
Alpine came from the Laravel community so is well used and respected. But not really for building full applications. More for JavaScript sprinkles.

2024-12-14 22:26:52 UTC

@npub1jpy…yfwv How have you been today? Hope it’s been more positive!

From you feed I see:
- creativity
- intelligence
- care for others and the world
- sense of justice
- fun and brightness
- openness and humility
Many marks of a good person and I don’t think even you would disagree with those characteristics.
You are a joy to follow (no pun intended).
You seem like a properly good person.
Have a good sleep if you can. Wake up and have another go at this tricky life thing tomorrow.
You are not alone.

oh. I missed this earlier. I relate. It will pass. But it’s so hard at the time and it comes back and bites you again and again.

But also…
Boo!!!
That main arterial cycle route they were improving is still a complete fucking mess. 😡

Teach them binary so they can count to 31 on one hand! 😉
There’s also a system where you point to finger segments that’s clever.
Starting with the thumb is odd though. Is that really a cultural thing? It’s just easier the Anglophone way isn’t it?

After some time on other things I've been back in the #WordPress dashboard building and improving plugins again. Because this is my job.
I discovered my friend's "Table Pixie" plugin which is awesome for debugging transients and options. One of those plugins where you're like "Why does this not have more installs?" 😎
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-table-pixie/
And as I browsed the plugin repo and saw the names and creations of people I know, I was filled with nostalgia and hope... but also sadness.

I just found out that a person I used to follow on Twitter (when I was there a lot more than I am now) made this amazing bulk photo-editing tools site that works all in the browser.

Now reading a Blake Crouch thriller I picked up for £1.
