growth has become a mantra or a logo. What does 'do a deal' mean. Surely trading must be for items of value, that we can't make or don't make , not panic buying!

In many ways I am shocked at how much white/wealth there is north of London, as I always thought that the concentration of wealth was, for the most part, London and the Home Counties (apart from some obviously wealthier outliers like the Lake District) . I live in the north so have visited and seen Ashington, Middlesborough, Blackpool etc.
I have believed, for many years that we have to have a more mobile government that comes face to face with these declined places and the challenges the people face!

I read somewhere that fewer qualified migrants are choosing to come to our lands. For all the bru ha ha we actually need educated workers to fill empty positions. They bring expertise and new ideas.Surely qualifications from reputable colleges and universities around the world are transferable! Some perhaps even of greater standing than our qualifications!

I personally don't think she is corrupt. There are several issues that make people less trusting. Labour MPs foolishly took gifts and this fact was blazened over the msn and the internet, it was a gift! It was a very naive thing to do cos it gives the impression they are greedy or corrupt. In addition the cost of this home is, to many people, very high value and this then is questioned. I'm again not implying corruption but to people on 30 grand or in work benefits this is an astonishing amount of money for a working class woman to spend.

it is more than that. Politics is peopled by politicians using power to improve their wealth. It has always been so. For a while, post war, the avaricious behaviour was slowed down but now it's unfettered again. It explains many of our national (housing, low wages) and international woes (Brexit, Palestine).

Rape Crisis (Eng and Wales) state 71,227 recorded rapes and assaults in 2024 of which 2.7% got to court. These are reported cases and don't include Scotland and N. Ireland. It's an appalling statistic. Even if 75% are convicted it's a very low base.
Rape victims are not reassured one iota by the whole system as an estimated 83% of victims do not report rape and assault!

tbh the policy makers have no idea of the impact on the send child in an inappropriate environment, the teaching staff and other pupils. Some classes can have several children who do not benefit from mainstream ed and have to be managed while the other children are being taught. If we don't invest in send education, I think more teachers will leave the profession.

it's already impossible to get assessments and SUITABLE places for send children. Some children cannot cope in a general school and need to be placed where their very specialised needs can be met. All children should have an education that meets their needs!

I love studying/learning/sharing ideas and during lockdown I discovered Openlearn. One course I enjoyed particularly was about slavery while another was about propaganda. Bliss to have high quality free education and share knowledge with others. I despair of our education system that results in many learners never wanting to learn again!

all education should be free and in multiple forms so we have an educated population. From the formal Uni to the less restricted OU through to Openlearn.
Naturally we need studies that lead to employment or bring in students from all the four corners of the globe but we also need the educated worker.
My grandad worked in a factory but read poetry and I'm sure he would have loved a short course on Burns or Scottish history. In the past the WEA was part of the route to high quality employment , social mobility and the enjoyment of life.

there has always been ways to control housing etc. How we persuade government to implement these measures is the question. The government is influenced, not so much by it's population, but by lobbying and donations from business. Another issue- the 1,000,000ish empty properties that could be renovated and repurposed, but sadly making no money for builders with the governments ear. This would regenerate our towns and cities, avoid damage to the green belt and even promote growth locally!
