Support for UnifiedPush is now merged in @npub1mr6…0pq0, the GNOME Fediverse Client. It will be available starting with the next major release
It's great to see new Linux apps added to the list of supported applications!

If you were waiting for some libraries to support UnifiedPush on your Linux app: you now have Rust crates, and GObject introspection bindings, tested with C and Python!

You can use a VAPID key per instance/registration.
Some distributor may limit the number of registration per application, but the known distributors don't have that kind of limit at this moment, and the limit should be high enough to not be reached (>1000)
And we recommend to register again every time the application starts

You have a VAPID keypair per server and on the Android side, you register to the distributor after fetching the server public key. In other words, there isn't only one VAPID key
I can update the blog post, if you have a suggestion to make it clearer

**Push notifications for decentralized services**
How mobile push notifications currently bring centralization to decentralized services, and how we can avoid it, even for mainstream configurations.

The new #UnifiedPush specifications for Android are merged 🎉
The main changes are as follows:
- Server-to-server requests are defined as web push
- It introduces VAPID (a way of authorizing the application server), urgency and topics
- The ability to define a default distributor
- Gives the distributor the power to properly wake up applications, a bit like what play services do with urgent messages!

The proposal to update the UnifiedPush specifications, mainly to make UnifiedPush endpoints explicitly web push endpoints with VAPID and urgency compatibility is open for review.
You can find the changes here: https://codeberg.org/UnifiedPush/specifications/pulls/1 https://codeberg.org/UnifiedPush/specifications/pulls/2
Your feedback is most valuable, whether on codeberg or in our matrix dev room (https://matrix.to/#/#unifiedpush-dev:matrix.org)

Our libraries are now available in maven central repository.
This repository is used by default in android projects to search for libraries. Previously, developers had to configure another repository to use the libs.
For developers: you can now use `org.unifiedpush.android:connector` from mavenCentral

The migration to @npub1fh7…ee83 is now done ! 🎉
All the repositories are mirrored to github and all the CI have been updated.
Next versions of the libraries will be on mavenCentral.
Thanks [@nlnet](https://social.nlnet.nl/@nlnet ) for giving time to do these small but important tasks 🙏
