Could it queue the notification somewhere if it’s something like an update notification? Like write to a file in /var and have a separate user notification service that checks for the file periodically, displaying the notification only if the file has changed?

Email client soon? Kidding, but also how great would that be…
I’ve been really surprised to see how much is possible with uxn, I always figured it was intentionally stripped-down to preserve an artistic focus. Now here you are making office suites.

Gnome Web/Epiphany needs a finished extension implementation, it will be a great WebKit alternative when that happens. You can enable it via CLI right now, but many APIs are still unimplemented, particularly the APIs needed for ad blockers :/

I no longer use X, but there was a transfur fox on there who had printed quite a colorful arsenal and was very active in continued R&D. It’s a strange and very global community, maybe the only place you will see opposing political extremes working on the same projects. (I do not indulge in the hobby, but I do occasionally follow its progress, just in case)

There is always the exciting world of 3D printing (and/or metalsmithing, which is amazing but sadly expensive and not very space-efficient)
(Also, this is terrible and very concerning obvs)

A brief (real) excerpt from the manual:
For example, the call:
gcal -# "0*d1su#99su.7 ^%Z" --here="#include <foo>" -y
causes the implicit processing of the standard resource file just before the further resource file line ‘0*d1su#99su.7 ^%Z’ and following ‘#include <foo>’ are processed, and that as if these lines were a physical part of the standard resource file.

Oh, that’s great, didn’t know you already had a solution for it!
Calendar protocols are terrible, so a simpler solution would be lovely. I have tried them all… gcal was maybe the closest to what I was looking for, but it was clearly designed by hostile aliens.

This looks nice. With such a simple format, I’m sure you could use a cron (or similar) script to automatically insert recurring events X days before they take place. Maybe just one crontab entry per recurring event, since cron already has a decent scheduler.

It’s a bit late to the party, but Meshtastic still doesn’t have wide adoption, and it’s mostly just enthusiasts who run nodes. I suspect it may end up like digital radio modes, where the local “winner” is highly regional and is based on both local topography and whatever the nearby repeater operators prefer (in radio this is often just a few people who all know each other).

Note however, it is MIT and not GPL, so given that the dev has already had some friction with Meshtastic, it’s good to be cautious here. He could probably build an ethical business by selling and supporting radios with preloaded firmware, or he could pull a bait and switch once it gains momentum and make incompatible proprietary enhancements to the protocol. I don’t know the guy personally so it’s something to keep an eye on.

There may be more than one Meshcore, the one I’m referencing is the new project that YouTuber Andy Kirby has been working on with the Ripple Radios dev and others: https://github.com/ripplebiz/MeshCore
I am a little concerned that the Ripple guy is spearheading it since it’s clear that he is trying to build a business around mesh radios, but it’s open source unlike his previous project so I’m optimistic. Andy has a couple of videos about it.

There’s no need to throw shade at Meshtastic because it doesn’t solve every problem. No tool does! But people should do the research and work with whatever tool best fits their purpose. Reticulum seems to be a great fit for a private WAN, and Meshcore has some good ideas that put it somewhere between the two projects. I hope they all find success.

True, but IMO these tools are intended for different purposes. Meshtastic makes a lot of sense in disaster or rescue scenarios where the most important thing is to get the message out across an area; it’s clear from plugins like ATAK that this is one of its key areas of focus. I think people have wanted to make Meshtastic into something it is not, rather than getting involved in projects like Reticulum or Meshcore, and this has been a source of frustration.

RAK has a module you can add: https://store.rakwireless.com/products/poe-power-slot-module-rak19017
You will need to include a module with USB as well for initial flashing/setup. Once it’s installed, you should be able to administer it remotely over TCP.
