#ScribesAndMakers – 24. Have you ever put proceeds from sales towards a cause you believe in?
That presupposes income from sales...
So, in my case... never had the opportunity to consider it.

2026-09-24 07:14:36 UTC

#WordWeavers 24/9: If your MC made a grand entrance, what fitting song would accompany them?
Thomas 'Tommy' Andrew McNulty would avoid making a grand entrance at all costs...
Titles, fanfares, parades and ceremonies are avoided whenever he can escape the pomp and ceremony.

#WordWeavers 23/9: Have your characters' journeys affected your own life? If so, how?
My life has had a far greater impact on their lives, than they have had on mine.

#ScribesAndMakers Day 23: Choose a noun that is representative of you as a creative person.
Whimsical.

2026-09-22 09:40:50 UTC

#WordWeavers Sep 22: If you wrote a memoir on your writing journey so far, what would it be called?
Roadblocks to avoid; friends to embrace.
OR....
Cautious steps though a minefield.
OR...
Lies, damned lies and sound advice.
OR...
'Nuff said.

2026-09-21 06:23:43 UTC

#WordWeavers 21. In your current WIP, which character do you relate to the least and why?
Relate to? I relate to all of my characters... otherwise they would end up being rather two-dimensional and skimped over.
Who do I least identify with? That's easier.
The antagonists because I would never want to truly understand, nor experience, that which causes them to be the soulless, heartless, cruel monsters they are.

2026-09-21 05:52:39 UTC

#ScribesAndMakers 9/21—What character from one of your own books or someone else's would you want to spend a day with? What would you do?
Billy Mortimer (Neither Here, Nor There) because he's a mad-cap, humorous ghost and I'd love to go pranking with him - on his day off, of course, 'cause I wouldn't want to upset his boss, The Adjudicator, would I?
It'd be better if Digger was with him too, but then who'd be keeping the peace, hmmm?

2026-09-20 12:20:14 UTC

#WordWeavers 20: "How do your characters access water or whatever they need to drink?"
For those who are free... the basics are available to all.
For those who are not, everything is a commodity with a high price.

2026-09-17 06:24:15 UTC

#WordWeavers for 17/9: By the end of your story, how many injuries has your MC had?
Still counting... zapped fingertips through to broken bones...
Because #OGRCommonwealth (completed) and #OGRWarlord (60%+)...

2026-09-15 06:04:41 UTC

#WordWeavers 15/9: Your characters get one completely ordinary day with no villains, quests, murders, wars, prophecies, romantic disasters, or impending apocalypses. How do they spend it?
Tommy would spend it either with George, his AI blob-of-goo buddy or in the company of someone very dear to him, which may entail the door to his cabin being closed and locked!
#OGRCommonwealth

2026-09-14 10:53:13 UTC

#WordWeavers 14: Your MC is offered exactly what they've always wanted-but accepting it will cost them something they love. What do they choose?
WANT is ALWAYS secondary to NEED for Tommy.
Therefore NEEDING someone/something would override any WANT.
#OGRCommonwealth #OGRWarlord

2026-09-14 06:36:13 UTC

#ScribesAndMakers 9/14. What's your favourite type of story setting?
Hmmm 🤔 Let me see... Not space all the time because medieval fantasy, supernatural action adventure, fantasy (wolves), horror (anywhere commonplace enough to raise a chill in most people), etc. kind of break me out of that...
But... the majority of tales relate to the way people (the good, the bad and the ugly) interact in various circumstances.

#ScribesAndMakers – 13th Sept. How pedantic are you?

😱 Oh My Fairy Godmother!
THAT IS scary!
So, build your trust slowly - let them prove themselves even as you prove yourself, then any differences will either be resolvable, or they won't and there won't be too much drama.
I had a young lady who threatened suicide to try and keep me tied to her... and she bore the scars of what may, or may not have been a previous attempt... fortunately, as I found out afterwards, it was all a bluff.

May you at the very least find a trustworthy friend (that's still a win).

2026-09-12 10:39:29 UTC

#WordWeavers 12/9: If you removed one supporting character, whose absence would change the story the most?
#OGRCommonwealth
Chief Engineer Francis Warren - in who's absence Tommy McNulty would have been dumped on the first world they made a planetfall.

2026-09-12 09:36:59 UTC

- reply

No harm in hoping... but remember - "check the depth of the water before you jump in with both feet!" 😇

2026-09-11 18:53:10 UTC

#ScribesAndMakers Sep 11: Our next featured creator is a group of three collaborators. Have you ever been part of a collaborative group for your creative work?
An unplanned exchange of tweets on pre-Musk twitter might have been classed a collaboration, but it didn't last long...
Other than that, no. I haven't.
Maybe one day I will - perhaps writing only one character (or just a few characters) in an ensemble cast... who knows?🤔

2026-09-11 18:45:14 UTC

#WordWeavers 9/11: What does your MC believe about themselves at the beginning of the story that turns out to be completely wrong?
That he has to be self-sufficient (rich) to be a success... then he gets some real life experience, and a family...
#OGRCommonwealth

#WordWeavers Sept 10: Share a description from your WIP that establishes atmosphere without explicitly naming the emotion.
Over his shoulder, I watched the countdown to when the energy levels would become critical.
Less than a minute.
He tapped a button.
Twice.
A third time.
“Shit.” He peered through the view port.
The counter hit zero.
I bowed my head in resignation.
“George!” I thought I was shouting, but to my ears, it sounded like a scream.

2026-09-10 07:55:48 UTC

#ScribesAndMakers – 10. Our next featured creator is an acronym. Do you use acronyms in your work?
Not often, in fact so rarely that I can't recall using any...🤔 ...though I'm pretty sure I have somewhere at sometime (and I may find a use for W.A.L.O.B. at some stage!🤪 )...

2026-09-09 09:41:39 UTC

#WordWeavers 9/9: What secret would cause the most damage if it were revealed in your story right now?
The identity of the Antagonist in the Warlord series! #OGRWarlord
It's a hard left turn, right at the end - so, NO SPOILERS!

2026-09-08 09:54:20 UTC

#WordWeavers for 8th September, 2026
8.Which character would be the worst person to get trapped in an elevator with?
Other than Colonel Miriam Sullivan - the "Queen Bitch" of the Galactic Corporate Military Science Division? #OGRCommonwealth
Perhaps the unseen, unknown, cruel and heartless adversary simply known by their name? #OGRWarlord

2026-09-07 06:16:18 UTC

#WordWeavers 7/9: Describe a moment when one of your characters realises they’ve made a terrible mistake.
When pursuing a fleeing enemy fleet the Commonwealth forces are lured into a trap and suffer heavy losses.
Taking the tiger by the tail, just got Tommy's forces badly bitten.

2026-09-06 07:47:51 UTC

#ScribesAndMakers 9/6. Have you ever listened to an audiobook where the reader had a good voice, but not the 'right' voice?
Never listened to one - that I can remember, that is...

2026-09-06 07:47:19 UTC

#WordWeavers 6/9: What is your MC hilariously bad at?
Unintentionally... accidentally... in the moment... upon encountering a situation for the first time... they make mistakes.
Some are humorous by chance/due to circumstances...
But "hilariously bad at" - nothing worth shaming them for by using that particular expression.

2026-09-06 07:42:27 UTC

#ScribesAndMakers 5 Sept: From a purely aesthetic standpoint, what is your favourite colour of ice cream?

2026-09-05 14:37:49 UTC

#WordWeavers 9/5: If your antagonist could justify their actions in one sentence, what would they say?
#OGRCommonwealth
They'd say "We who must be obeyed..." then all the usual bullshit the empowered wealthy come out with...
#OGRWarlord
If they communicated at all they'd probably say "Because I can, and because I want to."

2026-09-04 16:25:06 UTC

2026-09-04 07:37:23 UTC

#ScribesAndMakers 9/4 If ebooks stopped being produced, how much would you miss them?
I'd be done with publication... PoD is not a viable option and I refuse to use AMAZON for anything related to my works (See my pinned toot).
Therefore, as a public facing author, I would simply disappear.

2026-09-04 07:35:00 UTC

#WordWeavers #WritingCommunity
4th Sept 2026. What seemingly insignificant object in your story carries a lot of emotional weight?
Oatmeal - aka porridge - the stickiest, stodgiest and tastiest you can imagine... is a reminder of a heart breaking loss.
#OGRWarlord

#WordWeavers for 3rd September, 2026
Share a line from your WIP that reveals more than the speaker intended.
You know, it's not always what is said, but the manner/tone in which it is said that can reveal more than is intended.
That said... can't think of any instance of a line that does that right now, so... nada!

2026-09-02 06:35:49 UTC

#WordWeavers 2/9: What would your MC notice first upon entering a crowded room?
The eyes of those who watch... fans and foes... they all watch to see what he does, just in case.

2026-09-01 13:06:50 UTC

#WordWeavers 1. What is something your MC desperately wants but would never admit to wanting?
He'd never admit it, but there is something he wants so very desperately... but because of **SPOILER** he does not dare to hope.

2026-09-01 13:01:49 UTC

#ScribesAndMakers 1Sep—List 7 things about your creativity (accomplishments, goals, etc.)
1) I'm alive and (so far) a survivor of this dystopian world where shit is praised and lauded, and merit and talent is decried ( amongst so many other perversions of the ethical values of the world).
Anything else is just me going about my business in my own sweet way.

How does an orphan get caught thieving from the Galactic Corporate Military?
Someone... some thing... attracts the attention of the patrolling MPs.
And what do you think might happen when they get caught? The brig? Hard labour?
Nope.
Somehow they get assigned to the crew roster for the Resurrection, a flying brick of a salvage vessel.
Then the adventure really 'takes off'!

#WordWeavers for 31st August, 2026
31. What's one thing you hope readers remember long after they finish your story?
The positive aspects of "humanity", and how to treat people with respect no matter who / what / where / how they are.
And the characters themselves, some of whom are not quite what you might expect.

2026-08-31 06:24:36 UTC

#ScribesAndMakers 31/08: Choose an adverb to sum up how your month went

#WordWeavers 30/8: "If you could interview one of your characters over coffee, what would be the first question you asked?"

2026-08-29 11:02:32 UTC

#ScribesAndMakers Aug 29 - Did you know what you wanted to be at 11?
No. Not a clue - no guidance, no suggestions, no thoughts, nothing regarding anything beyond the examinations...

2026-08-29 06:44:18 UTC

#WordWeavers 29/8: What writing accomplishment are you quietly proud of?
The diversity of my focus. Not just Scifi, not just fantasy, not just dramas...
Not just novels/series...
Not just shorts/flash...
Not just poetry...
Not just in English...
Maybe other stuff too, but later... when I remember, perhaps.

#ScribesAndMakers 8/27. Tell a story, real or fictional, about an object on your desk/work area.
Me, 5 external HDDs and Lego. Almost a whole day to build a stable tower for the disks. Then what? Oh, my mobile phone is jealous! "Hey, I need a stand, not just any stand, but one that can be used horizontally AND vertically. Hello, Lego! Let's not forget the headphones, whimpering as they clutter up the desk. So more construction.
Result - More desk space, less clutter!

#ScribesAndMakers August 26. Describe how it feels to be "locked in" to your work.
When the muse is hot... there is nothing but the story and my blistering fingers beating the keyboard into submission.
I am wherever the story leads me, talking to and interacting with the characters as if I was with them instead of at my keyboard.
It doesn't happen often, but when it does - it is so cool!
