OK that's really cool. I will probably buy more #Shelly products in the future, because their integration with Home Assitant has been absolutely perfect so far!
Please support good brands like this instead of garbage like Philips Hue, which requires a stupid, proprietary app for all this stuff.

@nprofile…ynd9 I mean, it only knows it's me before I even signed in. Surely it doesn't know I'm a real person. I 100% believe they need my ID for that.

#LinkedIn's tracking is wild.
Signing up for an account in a private Firefox window with adblock and privacy badger: It already shows my family as people I might know.
Signing up for an account in Mullvad browser with VPN active: It doesn't know.
Signing up in Mullvad browser without VPN: It also doesn't know.
So basically it has fingerprinted my Firefox browser so well that it knows it's me before I'm signed in.
Awful, terrible, scary, corrupt website. They don't even try to hide it.

You know you're doing self-hosting right when it takes more than 30 minutes of no internet before you notice anything is wrong. Music is playing, files are uploading, the home automation is fully functional...

@nprofile…k7ew I'm so glad that it's not just me who's annoyed by this trend. I've also seen it in toots on Mastodon. I hate it. No clue what their reason for not using uppercase letters is, but I can't imagine any good reasons myself.

The USA is such a nice country, solving corruption and politics in other countries. I'm sure there is no other reason why they would ever attack a country. Definitely not.

@nprofile…dfpj One tip for remote access: Tailscale. I've been using it on my servers for a few months now and it's pure magic! Especially when combined with something like CoreDNS (DNS server hostable in Docker) for split horizon DNS, so you can use the same domain name internally and externally.

Love it when during debugging, you see something that isn't correct but "deninitely isn't the cause for the issue you're having". You change it and continue debugging. A day later when you want to continue working on the issue, you try to reproduce it and it's magically solved. Turns out it was that simple fix you did that would "definitely not be the cause of the issue".

@nprofile…2k3v I never know what to write in address. It's always a process of elimination. Whatever I can't find a field for goes into address.

Someone should write a disk partitioning utility with an LLM as frontend and call it ChatGPT.
Oh and also, for added fun, it should do nothing in memory first and it should not ask the user for confirmation.

Finally watched Your Name on a TV with decent sound. I still can't believe how beautiful that movie is. The level of detail in every scene, the backgrounds, the ambient sounds, the saturated yet believable colors (especially in the scenes on the mountain) and of course all the music.
I feel like you can pause the movie 99% of the time and have a beautiful computer wallpaper.

I bet you if you somehow revived a dinosaur and showed it a mailing list, it would immediately recognize it. That's how ancient mailing lists are.
The dinosaurs are no longer around, but mailing lists sadly are.

#Jellyfin first impression: it's amazing!
It took around an hour to set it up (installation, reading documentation, adding first movies, setting up firewall...). I logged in and it just works. All the media automatically has cover images, descriptions, ratings... Playback just works. And the TV app even works better than the Crunchyroll one. What an amazing project!

"People and businesses are now hoping that the #TikTok ban will be lifted soon, so they can use it again."
Have you learned nothing. Someone with even a pea worth of brain should be thinking "Ay, this proprietary platform can be banned just like that. Maybe, just maybe I shouldn't rely on closed platforms any longer."
What did I even expect though. It's TikTok after all. The place where brains slowly rot away.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: When you recommend #Ubuntu to potential new #Linux users , you're doing them and the entire Linux community a disservice.
I'll say it like it is. Ubuntu is a bad Linux distro for daily use, especially for new Linux users. Something like #Fedora or maybe Pop!_OS is way more maintainable, simpler and modern than Ubuntu will ever be. Can't change my mind about this.

Is there an up-to-date database of #OpenStreetMap tags that are current and not deprecated? I'm trying to use #Vespucci to edit a place, but half of the suggested tags are not officially recommended by the wiki, or are deprecated. It would seem logical to me that a reference database exists where apps can periodically retrieve all the recommended tags and their values.
