For the past 25 years, my birthday has been overshadowed by an insane tragic event that occurred in a foreign country. No more. I’m reclaiming my birthday and you are all invited to join in the celebrations. Happy 57th birthday to me! 🎉

Not sure I’d give either country very high odds of being around 100 years from now given their respective neighbours, but I have to say I greatly admire Carney and Zelenskyy for having the guts to publicly announce a 100-year defense agreement today. #Canada #SlavaUkraini

I fucking love how we’ve become addicts for Chapman’s ice cream ever since we first learned about the company during the pandemic and how much they actually care about their employees. Behold, the current contents of our freezer after Isabelle told me about a sale.

Last summer, my father-in-law died from dementia. We planted a tree to remember him near the walking trail he enjoyed.

I intensely dislike putzes like Doctorow. Here he claims without any hint of irony or hyperbole that Trump is responsible for Pakistan’s adoption of solar, irrespective of the fact that the deal was freely reached between two independent countries, completely glossing over the fact that the non-white peoples of the world are perfectly capable of making smart deals that advance their own interests without needing a white man to magically make it possible for them. Sad.

I don’t live in that country, but hardly a day goes by that I don’t find myself wondering how Americans put up with this. After so many days of wondering and seeing no sign of an end in sight, one is led to the monstrous, inescapable conclusion that Americans want it this way.

Hi everyone! I’m John, a GenX physicist who invented laser technologies to detect diseases using exhaled breath, as well as some holographic technologies for augmented reality. But the best part of my work has been mentoring young scientists, engineers, and founders. Nowadays I live near some of the best beaches in Atlantic Canada. Interested in science, health, music, art, photography, books, biking, and D&D. On Mastodon since 2022. #introduction #physics #science #Canada #founder #books #DnD
