I'm a Christian dad from #London who loves #boardgames, #ttrpgs and #scifi / #fantasy books.

I have #chronicfatigue; I regularly prune my following list so I don't get overwhelmed. It doesn't mean you've done anything wrong.

@nprofile…q5yn As to the specific things you raised: we didn't have any problem with making notes. When I played with a group who didn't have a much experience with story games I did end up introducing more than my share of the problems, as that was tricky for them, but we still told a cool story together.
I think I've never encountered anyone who played the game with as little talking as the rules demand, but it's still good for all that!

@nprofile…q5yn I guess I would say: no game is perfect, but #TheQuietYear is consistently recommended as really good at what it does by a wide range of people so if you're just concerned with whether it's a good game to bring to your group: yes, it is. If it sounds like a theme you're interested in, give it a go!

@nprofile…q5yn I've played it and enjoyed it. Not sure I have any insights! Anything in particular you're wondering about?

I'm already sold on navigation and exploration being core activities of many of the elf-game things I run. Even so, this was a thought-provoking read from Dwiz.

@nprofile…tvnd My stupid idea: dwarves don't have darkvision; they echo-locate like bats. But because they have gruff Manly(TM) voices they holler drinking songs and get really crap resolution.

@nprofile…7kpp this feels quite different from most of the stuff you've been making the last couple of months, although that might just be my subjective impression. 🤔
Either way, love the colour palette.

"To summarize: The bird in this scene does not live where it’s supposed to, look like it’s supposed to, or sound like it’s supposed to. To put this in terms of mammals, it’s as if a two-toed sloth climbed up to Bill Murray’s window, howled like some unknown species of canine, and Cameron Diaz identified the howl as a sea otter, saying that sea otters live in only one place on Earth: Carmel, California."

@nprofile…7kpp the multi-faceted insect eyes on a mammalian body is so good and so weird!
