@nprofile…jnzr Going public or the involvement of private equity is normally a giant red flag indicating incoming enshittification these days anyway. I hope the process of going private goes smoothly for them.

@nprofile…5lsr Ah that's so cool! I must have missed that being added. Are my identities linked in the recipients contact list or will I appear as 2 separate contacts if I send them messages from different relays?

2026-04-21 21:37:34 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…5lsr In the Android app it specifies 1 relay is used for sending, meaning I can still receive messages if I have added multiple relays and my "main" one is unreachable but I cannot send messages. Now you're saying that if I have multiple relays added I can send as well as receive despite the"main" relay being unreachable?

@nprofile…qj99 @nprofile…5jaf I suggest a 72 bass piano accordion. I started my accordion journey with a second-hand refurbished Czech one coming from playing mostly piano. Good range on the bass and you'll be able to get a really good feel for the instrument. After a while you might get fed up of a few bass limitations which is where bigger bass options are handy and you might want a longer piano keyboard. I found that 3+2 reeds (5, 3 registers) are enough. Always try before buying!

Congrats to #helldivers2 on being the first 100GB+ game that I haven't uninstalled out of spite for being a bloated monster straight after the honeymoon period of learning the basic game mechanics ended. It helps that the battlepass implementation is devoid of the usual #fomo #enshittification prevalent in #gaming these days. After a shaky start with weapon balancing #arrowhead have been pretty decent with updates, the most recent of which is a real banger - would recommend!

If there's anyone looking for a SoundCloud-like replacement good for hosting publicly accessible audio I can recommend #Faircamp (https://simonrepp.com/faircamp/). It's a static website builder that replicates a lot of the functionality, albeit without the social media element. Took a couple of afternoons to get something pretty respectable looking. I already had my own domain and web hosting set up so I'm actually saving myself the #SoundCloud annual subscription by doing it this way.

@nprofile…8s5g It's just file sync but it has versioning so you won't lose anything. I set mine to sync over my home WiFi only so internet connectivity isn't a factor. As soon as I log into my desktop the files sync to/from my phone in the background. KeePassXC has a merge function if you want to combine files because something failed. I've never needed it though. Been using it on #GrapheneOS #LinuxMint #macOS #Windows10 without much trouble.

@nprofile…8s5g @nprofile…naem I use #syncthing to sync the KeePass file across all the devices I want it on. It syncs directly from one device to the other(s) so devices need to be on and connected to the network at the same time for it to work. Works well for my needs.

I know #Signal has been recommended as the main alternative to #Whatsapp for #GlobalSwitchDay, but given that it's centralised & tied to your phone number (and also won't let you migrate your chat history between platforms), I'd recommend #simplex as a worthy alternative without those downsides.

@nprofile…kjzn @nprofile…asy0 Signal is available as a direct download, it's not remotely limited to the play store. Agree with the centralised infrastructure though.

@nprofile…78r3 I think centrism is the answer to the question "what's the easiest way to get elected running against the establishment party, given that the channels of communication are dominated by said establishment?" Tell your voter base & party members they have to accept some right-wing ideology as the price of power, dismiss anyone who disagrees as a puritan, peel off a few key right wing commentators and voters and bingo, you're over the line. But what's happened to the overton window?

@nprofile…nvxe Conservative politicians have always been, at best, fascist-adjacent (representing as they do the establishment, for whom divide & rule, and by extension anti-migrant/poverty-shaming narratives, is standard). Its the so-called liberal politicians who claim anti-racist, pro-worker bona-fides, yet actively collude in policies to impoverish ordinary people and grant validation to far-right talking points as part of their electoral politics that have swung the pendulum rightwards.

2024-12-08 10:41:47 UTC

- reply

@nprofile…nvxe Meanwhile, the left in France united to defeat the far right, came first in the election and then Macron shut them out and formed a government with the far right, validating the far right in the process, just like every other western centrist politician, positively eager to "pragmatically" creep rightwards.

Finally finished migrating my phone from #iOS to #android #GrapheneOS. Not all my friends and family are receptive to my warnings about using #Whatsapp but that turned out to be a blessing in disguise because even though it was a pain I could ultimately migrate my messages across. Absolutely zero chance of doing that with #Signal and a ton of very meaningful messages from dear friends are stuck on my old handset it seems. The clear winner was @npub1mcg…zdpy, by far the easiest migration of the lot.
